Noooo.
For Dssc 50 is too much na, EC is on d way too.
SSC can be 40 plus. But Dssc is within 30 plus

So how many then?

Does that mean the final list will be over 10 for DSSC

Eyaa.. Sorry ehn. But will you ever consider going for screening and training if you're eventually shortlisted?
LexyJay02:

Yes you have. I'm seeing many new things which if I had known before August, I wouldn't have applied.

Bro, it's really a complicated situation. Ugo understands.

But I really wish I didn't apply. I'm praying now that name doesn't come out, infact I'm fasting about it. My God will not let my name come out.

How many potential candidates for Ondo State are on this thread?

Are you aware that the Directorate of Army Aviation already exist?

That they have already ordered for aircraft to be delivered?

It is your kind of thinking that is responsible for the backwardness in Nigeria. If other armies own helicopters then why can't we own helicopters? Air assets are highly essential for army operations. Let them own, they will learn, they will perform.

If America is not giving us Apache now, that doesn't mean we can't get them in the near future. Beside, they are Russian made rotor crafts than can perform as much as Apache
Something like this .
Russian made mi28
5.8 billion naira

I do have a feeling that they might shortlist more because of medicals but still maintain their normal number or add a few in the final list.

Make una go check 2020 budget for army and airforce know how far, awon combat helicopters.
The Army for example only have N14bn to spend on purchases including armoured vehicles, tanks, weapons etc To train just 20 combat pilots and technicians will gulp almost 1bn alone talkmore of purchasing a frontline helicopters that cost roughly $30m per unit. We never begin talk about arming them, mind you, one heat seeking missile cost as much as $30k.
One of the Russian made mi 28 is 5.8 billion naira na.

I pity this country, sincerely. A politician can easily divert 100 billion naira. On the wiki page, Kenya that is not that ravaged by war has 5 of these Mil Mi-28 since 2012. Yet, we keep wasting lives complaining of inadequate fund. We can't know the gravity of what is on ground now only the families that lost breadwinners do

Jesus!! Apache for army grin . Even the airforce on behalf of FG have being trying to get that machine since 2012, America refused to sell to us citing the "Leahy's law" even a third party country won't sell it to you, common Chinook was turned down by the Americans even when the Israelis where willing to sell their's to us they blocked it. To be frank to you we ain't getting no Apaches even in 10yrs time talkmore of the army. The much talked about Tucano aircraft that will enter service in 2020 was made possible by Donald Trump because of his businessman mentality and also the will to support us compared to the Obama's administration.
The army don't need attack helicopters for now, what they need is transport helicopters, flying close support mission is very very dangerous because helicopter fly at lower altitudes compared to fix wings and are slower than jets engines making them vulnerable to enemy fire, that's where the expertise of the air force comes into play, they train regularly for such missions.

As for the General, it is one thing for him to make a wish and another for it to be granted, that's why I initially said you people should hold politicians responsible, a common house of representatives member is somewhat powerful than a General.
The army didn't order for Apache helicopters. The cobra helicopter were ordered

The deal was blocked back then because the United States under President Obama wouldn't sell weapons to countries accused of gross Human Rights violations

The Chinook deal was flawed under Ibrahim babaginda regime. Siting almost same reasons as under Jonathan, Human Rights violations and holding on to power for long or in simple terms government instability

Saying the Nigeria army does not need combat helicopters shows you might have not being following development in the NE from the onset

The army is in dare need of attack helicopters. You talked about getting transport helicopters

I guess you don't know transport helicopters ferrying troops don't move without attack helicopters providing air/ground cover until troops are dispatched

Them go gather them for the highest point of river kaduna dam, tie rope for their waist command them to jump inside the river, then use the ropes to drag them out.

What I said is with respect to reality on ground. I'm a realist and I never decieve myself esp when making decisive decisions. My point is very clear, the army as presently constituted won't go for advanced combat helicopters in the interim because many factors chief of which is funding, let's not talk about the cost helicopters and crewmen, do you know the cost of "dumb bomb" talkmore of arming the newly acquired helicopters with Advanced weapons.
At present it will pay the army more putting into cognizance their lean budget to go for drones, Light attack helicopters with transport capabilities than buying one or two Mi's/Apaches that will be parked up after 2 years.
Transport helicopters like the Chinook has multirole capabilities, it's not only for troop insertion/evacuation it carries it's on specialised weapons.
If you really follow the events in the north east you ought to know that ISWAP/Al-Barnawi faction of BH have the capability to shoot down a low altitude aircraft. You don't just jump into an aircraft and go for interjection missions without putting into consideration factors like weather, enemy weapons, accurate location of friendly forces etc. Go and watch "Lone Survivor" to have an idea of what I'm talking about with respect to the disaster that can occur during air raid/ rescue mission.

No knowledge is a waste, you could pick one or two things that could be beneficial to you when you face the board or get commissioned as an officer.
Abi you want make we dey post things like
*List will comeout tomorrow*
*No Buratai said it's till next year*
*How many photocopies are we to bring for screening*
*Should we travel with money for interview when list shows*
*How many cup of garri we suppose carry go interview* etc

Sometimes it doesn't cost a thing to engage in healthy arguments as long as it's all related to the subject matter. Some of us here might become battalion commanders, COAS someday or be in a position to make far reaching decision with regards to the betterment of the army and military at large.

you can only speak for yourself sir. This is an opportunity for you to learn, and if you think you don't need the argument allow others to learn. We want a better army, we can only get the army we all desire by separating the wheat from the Chaff.

look I get the point you're making, "funding" yes funding and maintaining such hardwares comes with its problems

I'm not saying the Nigerian military should be equipped like the US or the Brit's

This weapons cost alot, but I can assure you that the Nigerian government is capable of getting at least 5 of this platforms and maintaining them, but corruption will not allow them. the rather use funding as an excuse of not equipping it's fighting force. Look at the army using T72 as MBT in this generation and time

Okay we can't get new ones, how about getting already used? Some nations do that, or don't they??

Let's be realistic, yes this equipment cost alot, but it's war and people are dying in their own country, not by a war waged by an invading force

I know we have what to takes to get this platform, I'm not saying we should be equipped like the Americas or heck even Egypt

We have the funds. The government and the military hierarchy is just not willing to end the war, sadly because most are benefiting from it

Ask any soldier on ground even most of the 1970s battle tank we have including the much talked about T72s are not even serviceable, it's that bad that parts from other tanks are being cannibalised to service the ones at the fronts. The situation is very pitiable, I've talked about us going for second new vehicles like the humvees used by Americans in Iraq for patrols than the Toyota pickup truck we use for patrols that melts when in contact with even knock outs. The thing is all about playing our politics right internationally, if you don't lobby the powers that be, they won't sell to you and they'll go ahead to block any sale to you from other countries. That was why under Jonathan regime situations was so bad that we had to ferry raw cash to buy weapons in the black market which again doesn't come cheap.

I have for years been trying to get into the ARMY but yet to. Once I got to board but didn't make final shortlist. What peeps here have said are true. Whether the treatment given to trainees is right iis another thing altogether. If Na death I would gladly die while in training. All I desire is to be a serviceman as I've always imagined the life. In fact I've lived it in my dreams and have shed rivers of tears in my private. One thing however I wish to say again is please cast anxiety aside n hope for the best.
