It is very important to note that +234 is not actually the postal or Zip code for all the states across the federation. Infact, +234 is only used as the country Zip code.

Below, i have written down the various state Zip code in Nigeria states.

I think this post is outdated. OP, what is the difference between P.O BOX & P.M.B? Mind you, both are issued by the post office after payment of stipulated fees and opening of an account with them.

I was filling a form online nd I came across d Zip postal code field, wasn't sure wat to put there so I google naija zip/postal code... for those of us dat had bn confused over this ish here is wat I found out

ZIP (Zone Improvement Plan) codes apply ONLY to the United States . The US does not regard postal codes from other countries as “ZIP” codes. In all other countries, postal codes are used. However, ZIP codes in the US are used for the same purposes for which other countries use postal codes for mailing purposes. So, ZIP codes are to the US while postal
codes are to other countries including
Nigeria.

Nigeria's ZIP / POSTAL code is NOT +234 for all cities and states as most people think- Rather +234 is only the International Dialing Code for Nigerian phone numbers.. example +23470********

Postal codes in Nigeria are numeric, consisting of six digits. NIPOST , the Nigerian Postal Service, divides the country into nine regions, which make up the first digit of the code. The second and third digits combined with the first, are the dispatch district for outgoing sorting. The last three digits are for delivery.
The main postal head office in each region will have a postal code ending in 0001, so Garki Main HO in Abuja has the postal code 970001, Ikeja HO in Lagos has 100001, Lokoja in Kogi has 270001 and Port Harcourt has 500001. The lowest postcode is 100001 and the
highest is 930001.

The Nigerian Postal Services still works despite
internet / email and the other Big names in the
Business (DHL, UPS, FEDEX) taking over delivery of
letters and packages faster. They NPS still offer P.O
Box address amongst other services for individuals
and corporations.

You can Visit the New Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) Website http://www.nigeriapostcodes.com to get more info.

Tnks wink

azipcode:
In Nigeria there are no ZIP codes, ZIP codes are only used and available in the United States of America.

In the country instead, they use postal codes for different states, depending on the state that you are located when required to give a ZIP code just give the postal code of the particular state you stay.

If you are searching for your current location zip code as well as the address for your location then azipcode.com is one of the best tool ever I seen before. AZipCode.com providing your current location zip code, postal code, and location lookup as per your current location address just in single touch.

How to Use AZipCode Tool:

1. Goto Google chrome browser.
2. Enter https://azipcode.com.
3. Click on "Find My Zip Code" Button.
(Ask for your GPS location Permission click on allow button at the top left of your browser)
4. Processing... Wait For a moment.
5. Done. Get location address and zip/postal code of your current location.

Tip: Try to use this tool in google chrome browser via your Android, iOS, and smartphones.

The Nigerian Postal Service has divided the country into nine regions with each regional code making up the first digit of the region’s postal code. Postal codes in Nigeria are made up of six numeric digits, the first digit is the regional code with the last three digits representing the delivery location mostly a post office or an urban area. Lagos has the lowest postal code 100001. The main postal head office in each region in Nigeria has a postal code ending with 0001.

Postal service operators too don't help matters. If this helps their services, why cant they ensure the public is aware of this?

Thanks guys, but +234 is not a "zip code" for any state or city whatsoever....
+234 is Nigeria's international calling code (just as +01 is for the US and +44 for the UK).

Meanwhile, next time you get a form that asks for a zip code, simply use "00000"...
That normally indicates that the filer is not resident in the US or Canada, and is processed thus.

Nigeria does NOT have actual "zip" codes, but (like the UK) it has postal codes (which is the same concept).

Of course in Nigeria, even postal codes are rarely (if ever) used.

That's right, the postal code in Nigeria is very confusing. Postal code data on websites that provide postal code data and on Google Maps is different.

The government's official postal code website can be accessed but only shows a list of states. If clicked the data does not appear. But to just help compare, you can see the site zipcode.com.ng

to be more clear, to find out and solve this problem you can contact the official contact of the official postal code service of the Nigerian government.
