why would you ask that?

Ghana does not care about your market size
there is no value in it for Ghana and that is why, Ghana does very little trade with Nigeria.

What we produce, you can't afford to buy.
If we supply you electricity today, your pocket would not be able to afford it.
Ghana does little trade with Nigeria and yet they buy more from Nigeria than Nigeria buy from you.. angry

If you have electricity to sell,

Who are you going to sell it to,that can afford it? grin

China? undecided

****did you hear her.Nigerian goods are entering into Ghana freely buh you refuse these trucks who had already set off entry so they want to even return back. And GUTA was told to open Nigerian shops and stop the protest because you Nigerians run to these same ECOWAS to cry free trade agreement. Over 400 Nigerian shops were locked in just one town in another city called Kumasi alone which was just a spare parts dealership town.Imagine the millions of Nigerians who will go hungry in Ghana had GUTA locked up your shops and closed Nigerian retail businesses throughout Ghana. They just sounded a warning to the minister to inform you that if Ghana retaliates, it will be very ugly so stop saying trash.
Millions of Nigerians going hungry because you guys locked up Nigerian owned spare parts shops?
I will like to invite you to a city called Onicha in Anambra State. Let's take a walk through just one line(street) in the spare parts market so you can see things for yourself.

Bro, if una like, make una shut the whole spare parts market for Ghana. We won't feel a thing. That's if only you know the amount of vehicles (cars, motorcycles, trucks and heavy equipment) on our road.

something is wrong with you

It is totally wrong for any country in West Africa to impede trade.
Ghana careless how long the Nigerian border is closed for.

But Ghana will not watch Nigeria carry out with it unfair trade practices against its neighbouring countries.
Ghana should kill it self if they can't accept Nigerian decision as a independent nation.

When you break up and become another Gambia or Sierra Leone, who will notice if you close your border or even care?

What do you think ghana can do to Nigeria?
Drag Nigeria before both ECOWAS and ITO
before Ghana stops importing gas from Nigeria.

When we stop, Togo and Benin will also stop importing your gas.
Ghana can easily divert the West African Gas Pipeline from an intake From Nigeria and contract Equatorial Guinea to supply the three countries with gas and soon to be a member; Ivory coast

lol, you have a point, but you don't understand the dynamics of import/export and its impact on the economy.
Let me help you, Nigeria exports to Ghana because Ghana needs those goods badly, Nigeria can easily export to other countries, now if Ghana decides to close its borders to Nigerian goods, Ghana will have to go else where to get it, this will mean them spending more and their consumers will spend more to get the goods. Example is this, if you buy a tuber of yam from ogun state, its cheaper for you, because ogun state is closer, however, if you choose to buy from calabar, you will have to pay more for transportation of the yam, you wonder why Ghana hasn't closed its borders to Nigeria, they should try it for 20hours only. I weep for Nigeria, if Nigeria had taken its rightful place in the continent, honestly, most countries will be begging us to accept visa free, they will beg us for every thing, i hope we get it soon, i pray so.
well proximity does not always determine the price of goods, cost of production is what determines it's that is why chinese products even though it's coming from far are still cheaper than your goods, so we can actually get whatever the same products for less and you know very well you can't compete with them so be grateful that we help feed you by buying your products.

Check the amount of exports Ghana exports to Nigeria compared to what Nigeria exports to Ghana. Ghana doesn't need any ECOWAS and if there's a trade war,Nigeria loses 159 million dollars whilst Ghana loses just 80 million dollars. Ghana exports over 17 billion dollars of goods worldwide just in 2018 and Nigeria is not even among top 10 export countries of Ghana even in Africa. All our products are exported outside Africa. Its the millions of Nigerians and their businesses in Ghana who loses not Ghana so think well before trying anything foolish with us.We never rely on your zoo. We're not Benin Republic. It's just that those trucks had already set off so they don't know if they should return back. Una don talk well. Great Analysis. Your analysis is perfect if we are dealing with sane climes. Ali said, since the border closure Nigeria Customs is now generating over 5Billion Naira daily which is like 2-2.5Billion more than what we used to generate. Let's use 2Billion Naira as an example, 2 x 365, that's 730Billion Naira ($2.05Billion). Baba, $2.05B don nullify all those losses altogether if you combine all West African countries. Aside from that, locals are also making great gains. In the same vein, we won't be subsidizing smuggled fuel for Benin, Togo, Ghana & Co. In fact, a rice mill owner in Jigawa said his company sold half of the stock that has been kept for one year in one week. He just employed hundreds of youths cos he can't keep up with demands.
Border closure can never be the answer but, I think Naija Govt is using this to send a warning to Benin Rep. The smuggling is free flow in that border. Too easy. I think Benin Govt stylishly encourages it. I'm not denying the fact that we have our own corruption problem too. How can a country of 11million people suddenly become 6th Largest Rice importer in the world? Who dey chop am? Naija Govt is losing over $45Billion annually because of loopholes. Chinese guys dey cut rosewood almost free in NW/NE, losing $2Billion annually. Illegal mining in NW, losing $1Billion annually. Oil theft in Niger Delta, losing $12Billion annually according to nigerianrc report in 2018. I believe oil theft is much more, it's around $20B annually. Who is taking advantage of those loopholes? The rich. Abi, me and you fit snuggle 25 tankers/drums (25 x 20k Liters) of fuel in one day. 500k Liters. That's what Ali guys seized from one badass smuggler a few days ago. Imagine if all those are sold for 316 Naira/Liter (official PMS price) in Benin Rep. That is subsidized fuel bought for 142 Naira/Liter in Naija. That's why I pity citizens wey dey praise some of our Elites, dem no know say they are part of the problem.Na we dey kill each other in this country. It's a lie if someone tells you Nigeria is poor, we only have leaders who can't solve problems.. Imagine what Nigeria could do with that extra $45Billion loopholes. If we just dedicate that to education lasan, our Universities will be badasses. $45Billion can give us nice railway networks throughout the country. $45B can build 40 world class hospitals. Imagine if we now consistently make that $45B for 10years. I wish I could do brain transplants for millions of our youths that are just dormant and chasing Bet9ja/BBN "up and down". We need to fight and put the right leadership in place. We can't continue this way.

Bro I am very sure that you are one of Solomon's biological relation.

I'm at a loss as to what to say about ur write-up above...first of all, ur border closure decision has nothing to do with flexing of ur muscles or sneezing as u put it...U Nigerians are quick to talk about who will lose in such actions; may be other countries in the subregion will, but certainly not Ghana.. If u care to noe, do u have the idea the no. of imports that come to our ports belonging to Nigerians on daily basis compared to the reverse...The government of Nigeria has disregarded n disrespected the ECOWAS agreement of which you are a signitory to by this singular act of border closure.. Currently the nigerian government has banned the entry of about 43 or more goods from other countries in the subregion which contravenes the ECOWAS accord, again nigerian goods like Dangote cement move easily into other countries in the subregion such as Ghana and u think its OK for the reverse not to happen... GUTA of Ghana demonstrated for the enforcement of a legislation in our country's constitution concerning foreigners in retailing but our government was adamant to act n up till today has not acted singularly due to the fact that most of such foreigners in the retail business are nigerians n especially bearing in mind the relationship that exists between the two countries cannot be treated as such by our laws... The earlier the nigerian government rescinds their decision the better for us all, because if it is to continue u ll be surprised Nigeria ll be the bigger loser.. Sometimes land mass n population size does not matter, if it does in all cases Nigeria with a population of roughly 200 million inhabitants will not go looking for aid in England... Gud luck.

Its funny when you consider that Ghana's GDP of roughly $50 billion is almost equal to one third of Lagos' GDP of $136 billion.
What is even more interesting is that Ghanaians who do not understand the dangers of challenging Nigeria are the ones itching for a trade war, when their government is looking to resolve the issue peacefully.
The Ghanaians on this platform must understand that trade wars go beyond shutting down borders and foreign owned businesses and that in the grand scheme of things, $80 million mean more to Ghana than $150 million does to Nigeria.

As an aside, $150 million is less than what our boys spend on beer each evening.
listen,if you don't know the GDP for Ghana, better shut up.Ghana has a GDP Norminal of 65 billion dollars with a population of 29 million people and a GDP PPP(purchasing power)of 190 billion dollars bigger than what Lagos has which is the 136 billion dollars.Lagos is not a country to have a GDP Norminal of its own so we calculate the GDP purchasing power for the whole Lagos State of over 25 million people who contribute 1/3 of Nigeria's 200 million population revenue which gives you the 130 billion dollars. Accra of 4 million people have a GDP PPP of 39 billion dollars. That 80 million dollars exports to Nigeria represents 0.47% of our exports in a year which is 17,1 billion dollars. So 80 million dollars is highly negligible to our 17.1 billion dollars exports. Your total exports in 2018 was 52 billion dollars and out of it was that 49 billion dollars which was over 94% was crude oil only seeing how your useless country is controlled by the wind of oil prices .Ain't you ashamed that you import everything including the refined crude you sold very cheap in barrels as crude oil.Disgraceful zoo, sorry nation.

These Ghanaians should dare not do anything to Nigerian goods entering their country.
Else Benin and Togo would be better than them.
The border closure is not because of Ghana. They should be careful.

BTW, I overheard someone saying here they would shut down Nigerian investments in Ghana.
So if they shut down zenith or GTB in Ghana, how are they going to reemploy the thousands of ghanians that would be out of jobs?

That is besides the fact that Nigeria will go ballistic on them.
