16th October 2019 is a day Onitsha people will never forget in a hurry. Goods and properties worth millions of naira was razed down by the fire inferno. It was gathered that the petrol tanker had a break failure and spilled its content into the waste water channel that connected some parts of the city an hour before the fire started.
The video below shows the rushing moment the fire passed through the water channel destroying goods and properties in the process.

Judging from what I saw from his video, I'm sorry even if the state fire fighters arrived, they wouldn't have been able to salvage the situation since they don't have ariel fire fighting planes or fixed wing jumper aircrafts and helicopters which would have been ideal in a situation like this in a densely populated area like Ochanga.

Thank goodness we don't experience rapid wild fire outbreak like they do in California.

Even though I share in their pains, I will partly blame the traders. This petrol spilled an hour before the fire started and they had the oppornity to evacuate their wares but little attention was paid to the impending disaster
