mysteriousman:The government should have ensured all other ports in the nation are working but nooo they decided to allow them stay dormant hence this had led to the faux parse we are now witnessing |

Isn't port congestion a good thing that way shipping coys will be forced to spread thier tentacles and look beyond Lagos seaports, other ports in Nigeria are dying of attention. This is the time for other sea ports to attract shipping companies via incentives or whatever. it will even help decongest Lagos population and it's traffic issues |

Nigeria is a wealthy Nation. I think the income from Nigeria's ports is enough to rival income from crude oil sales. Do and make Onitsha and Calabar ports operational. |

NigeriaIsDoomed:Nigeria is doom as your name suggest.... this doesn't affect Ghana in whatever form , inflation is dropping, producer pricing index is dropping. All fundamental of economy proves Ghana is on the right part. so this actually does not affect Ghana in any form. Ghana crucial export( Gold , cocoa and crude oil) is not in anyway affected. Guta is only using it as avenue to awaken Ghana Goverment interest to enforced the local law that bar foreigner from operating without having certain cash of dollars. it is Nigeria who should sit well, because the current boder closure have increased smuggling and encourage more criminals as inflation bit hard in Nigeria. |

johnkay1:if only all the stakeholders at the port will focus and do their job efficiently. There will be no need for the dry ports. Instead of clearing in 100days it could be done in 10days only if the persons running the ports will just do their jobs. |
| Re: Border Closure May Worsen Ports’ Congestion by vaxx2: 4:10pm On Oct 20, 2019 |
400billionman:No, the crude oil is Nigeria crucial export and largest revenue for Nigeria foreing exchange which is the reason border closure is not in anyway a direct problem to Nigeria since her economy is not tied down to most commodities export thru ecowas corridor . Nigeria export 2.3 million barrels of oil a day and a barrel of oil is a little higher than 60 dollars. just calculate what Nigeria makes on oil and the country still breed poor citizens.... . |

In every pro there is a con. The excuses by these so-called stakeholders are baseless; confused and contradictory bunch. We have the Warri and Port Harcourt ports laying idle. The government should divert volumes via these ports and improve infrastructure simple and short. Check my blog for all things security and safety: www.securitymattersafrica.com |

NigeriaIsDoomed:I have told you Nigeria is doom , this is just to force Ghana local law into action. . Nigerians don't buy Ghana crucial goods as it is too far expensive for Nigerians (Gold) it is Ghana who buys Nigeria gas so deal with that Nigeria is doom.... |

The federal govt should fix all other ports in the country to reduce the congestion of Lagos port. Unfortunately, they don't want to develop the south south, if all the ports in the south south are working just like the one of Lagos, we won't be talking of congestion here. |

NigeriaIsDoomed:nigeria is doom , so you dont know made in Ghana goods to Nigeria ( international company) passes thru sea not land ? The only Ghanaian buisness that can be affected directly are indigenous company in the likes of kinapharma and Kaseperoko who also employ Nigerians in their chain of business. so Ghana suffer , Nigerians also suffer. anyway, Nigeria goverment understand this enough to open a temporary corridor for Ghana while closing the border for Benin.....

If it doesn't happen this way how will they concentrate on other port... Like ibaka deep sea port in akwa Ibom, calabar port, onne port and warri... Must every ship Bert in Lagos ??....If this border closure will open other port so be it... Beside that will further create more employment NO PAIN NO GAIN... People have started seeing the advantage of investing in agriculture especially RICE... ijustdey: |

The dry port can really do much now because the Rail track are being worked upon now,the border closure is not a bad idea at all, china did the same the other ports should be made to work optimally. All those Maradonna companies that ran away from Nigeria to reduce cost of production only to import and take advantage of our market will be peeing in pant now. i noticed that people are now eating more of catfish and local Sea Fishes now than before. i can taste fura inside the current Dano milk inlike before. how i wish that Half of NSYC corpers can be given farm machineries and agric . inputs and land to go into serious agric. farming. |
