The suspension that drives your vehicle smoothly over bumps, overcomes bends, and safely travels from point "A" to point "B" consists of several components that work together to accomplish these tasks. One of the most important and long lasting parts are the suspension springs or commonly referred to as suspension coil springs. The coil spring itself is made of stainless steel and serves as a buffer between the shock absorbers and spring struts, the vehicle frame and the lower suspension parts. However, the suspension springs are incredibly durable, sometimes mechanical failures occur. Here are some of the common symptoms that may indicate that there is a problem with your suspension springs: 1. Vehicle tilts to one side One of the tasks of the suspension springs is to balance the vehicle on equal sides. When a spring has collapsed or shows signs of premature wear, one of the most common side effects is that one side of the vehicle appears to be higher than the other side. If you find that the left or right side of your vehicle is higher or lower than the other side, have the problem inspected and diagnosed by a professional mechanic. 2. Uneven tyre wear Most people do not regularly check their tyres for proper wear. However, with routine oil changes and tyre rotations, it is more than acceptable to ask the technician to inspect the tyres for proper tyre inflation and wear patterns. One of the most common culprits of misaligned front axle suspension is a coil spring that is either worn or needs to be replaced. You may also notice uneven tyre wear while driving as the tyre wobbles or vibrates at higher speeds. This symptom is also common in wheel balancing, but should be checked by a professional mechanic 3. The vehicle jumps up and down while driving The springs also help keep the vehicle from bouncing, especially if you hit potholes or bumps on the road. When the suspension spring begins to fail, compression becomes much easier. This has the consequence that the suspension of the vehicle has more travel and therefore seems to hop more often. If you notice your car, truck or SUV hopping more often when driving over bumps, driveways or easy runs under normal driving conditions, have the suspension checked by a mechanic. 4. Vehicle reaching the ground As mentioned above, the vehicle suspension has more room to move up and down when the springs fail or show signs of wear. One of the most common side effects of a compressed spring is that the vehicle lands on the ground. This can result in significant damage to the vehicle chassis and other parts of the vehicle, including oil pans, drive shafts, gears, and rear end housings. LAST WORDS Proactively maintaining your suspension in good condition not only improves the comfort and handling of the vehicle, but also extends the life of the tyres and other key components of your car, truck or SUV. Take time to recognize these warning signs and take precautions to keep the suspension springs on your vehicle in good working order. samintegrity:Some people raise their absorbers for some reasons. They may live is a location that has very people road so they want their car to stand high from the ground or they cross bridges that has high endings on a daily bases. I once raised mine too but I decided to stop doing it after some time. The disadvantages are more than the advantages. Your car will look unnecessarily high, your absorbers will get damaged quickly (that is mostly the fault of the welder that raised the absorbers and the most annoying one is the heavy landing sound you get when you climb a bump. Then it can make your Honda accord legs pull easily cuz it wear out other suspensions likes ball joints. To answer your question, you can leave it until it gets damaged (which I'm sure it will very soon) or simply replace the absorbers now. |

Thanks. Will have to replace asap. It really doesn't even make it look beautiful compare to others. Moreso, I feel it drags the car sort of too. |
