if the driver can’t take whatever comes with that job he best quit.

STFU, you talking like a dingbat!

Insulting someone at his job, does not come with the job.
It is only in Nigeria that fools insult people at their job or look down on them.
Go abroad and do that and youwill see yourself in jail, or sued for a good sum, before you can even blink your eyelids.

Respecting an elderly person, not minding that he is "working for you", is a sign of good Upbringing and this shouting and insulting of employees is very common with you Igbo people because you are too arrogant and full of useless pride, once you have small coins in your pocket.

Must be a Yoruba driver. Yoruba people value respect as if their life depends on it or as if it will bring food to their table. If sun dey shine they'll expect you to greet them "eku orun" , rain "eku ojo". Make they go the next street come back they will still expect you to greet them "eku alobo" and if you fail to do so, quarrell don start be that.
And some idiot liked this foolish comment

I disagree! There is dignity in labour and an obvious disrespect doesnt come with the job. There are other ways to joke with the driver.

I joke with drivers once in a while when i use their services, one thing i consistently do is to profile the driver and know what sort of "joke" is appropriate.

I only used that in relation to the man's age and not his social status. I agree with you 100%

Right, I get you.

How on earth will you joke with a man Old enough to be your dad with the word " YOUR HEAD IS NoT THERE"?

There are some expensive joke u dare not play with an average Africa man/woman. The stupid lady even have d gut to took the man photo and upload it on SM.

She deserved more than the ill treatment she got from the man. Stupid slay queen with nothing upstairs.

Which ill treatment? She did not get any ill treatment, if she tries that with me, she will be in the hospital now. I am at my work doing my Uber jejely, you now say becos I dey drive you for my daily bread you come insult me, say I be your mate? Two thunderous slaps, one igbaju, one ifoti, one igbarun and when she turns her back, two hot iladi.

Considering the fact that Nigeria is a country that places high expectations on respect, she should have known better than to address an elderly man that way

Over to the man, he should have behaved with utmost sense of official responsibility because he could get sacked for his actions... No matter what customers are always right whether old or young

Even Caucasians stil respect their Elders or have you not seen them reserving a particular number of seats for them on Buses and in public places?
Have you not heard and seen them give free passes for Bus and train rides, for their Senior (Elderly) Citizens?
It is not just a Nigerian thing but a moral and right thing, to respect elders.

The man cannot be sacked for any jack.
it is his taxi though Uber is the "payment intermediary" between them.
Nigerians just need to go back to factory settings and learn some basic rules of humanity, especially people from the South East.

And by the way, "Customer is always right" does not go as far as hurling abusive insults at the Customer Service Personnel, if you insult people at their place of legitimate work, they have the right to throw you out. I have seen ithappen uncountable times.

Go into say a Police Station ans tell them because you are a Customer, you have the right to insult the Policemen there and see what happens next. grin grin

NB: This si not a criticism of your post, just an addition to it.

That man in the video no be small person, that he drives Uber to make ends meet does not mean you look down on him. this is wrong on all grounds!!

To think she even posted this online angry
The girl jokingly made that statement, but the man took it personal probably because of his culture and his tribe.
I really do not know why she would make such a joke.
The guy may also be upset cause she was sitting at the back. A lot of these drivers expect passengers to sit in front. I don't and wouldn't.
If you are a taxi driver and expect every lady to sit in front with you, just go and park your car.

Chill. This has nothing to with a particular set of people. I know you have a point by saying they have greeting for almost everything which is fair. On this context even though I wasn't there but base on what she posted, she shouldn't have said that to an elderly person irrespective of tribe. Even if the lady was trying to to be funny with her statement. Some will definitely feel offended...Such statements are welcome among friends and probably relative and not a total strangers who's ''way older" than you.

If you are a taxi driver and expect every lady to sit in front with you, just go and park your car.

A Passenger can sit anywhere they deem fit in a Taxi, the driver has no right to insist they sit in front.
Infact, most drivers prefer a 'single lady' to sit at the back, all by herself if she is the only passenger, in these days of false accusation of sexual assault.
It is very easy to accuse a driver of 'touching' if the female passenger is in front with the driver but l guess soem Uber Drivers dont want their wive's friend to see them driving a girl the age of their daughter, or do not want others to know they are Uber drivers. grin grin

For such drivers, l say they should be proud of whatever legitimate work they are doing, it is better than Yahoo-yahoo or stealing.
There is dignity in labour, nothing to be ashamed of.

But to use a condescending language like that with the driver (its a way of saying the man's head nor correct or he is stupid), is unacceptable.
Even Uber Customer Terms and Conditions states that you cant be abusive towards their drivers.

calm down. It's a miscommunication. The driver would have corrected her instead. That's what I'll do.

if that man is looking for his mates, he should go to the senate building in Abuja and stop forming old man when you know this kind of job will always bring insults and moreso, he doesn't need to take life that hard, the young girl was probably joking. The man looks frustrated to me, he is probably not happy with his job in the first place!
