Barely 24 hours after 11 inmates were rescued from a religious rehabilitation centre in Zaria, Kaduna state, 15 inmates of another rehabilitation center in Yola, Adamawa State capital have also been rescued after a raid carried out by the police.

Suleiman Nguroje, the Deputy spokesperson of the state police command said the rescued inmates were found in dehumanizing conditions at the illegal rehabilitation center operated by a man and his three sons who have been arrested.

While most of the rescued inmates were adults within the age bracket of 22 and 46 years, two of the rescued inmates are said to be teenagers.

“They were being chained, humiliated, victimised, subjected to unnecessary torture. They were in chains for 24 hours without feeding and medication,” he said.

The police has already launched an investigation into the operation of the illegal rehabilitation center.

After watching the video where a whole PHD holder from UK, was also a victim, I understand why you cannot easily convert a Muslim no matter how convinced they are about your preaching.

Such torture centres is one of the strongest structures that sustain Islam. No Muslim child or adult will have a knowledge of the existence of such centres that won't think twice before deserting the religion.

I'm surprised the police is doing as if they're just knowing. It's not a secret. There are thousands of such centres all over the north and parts of middle belt

And to think homosexuality and all forms of sexual abuse happen there. Disgusting!

Your family members will just wake up one day, accuse you of wizardry...next thing na chains for torture center. To think that people paid those clerics for these unholy acts is just sickening!

It's so disheartening to know that there are so many torture centres in the North. I hope all those being returned to their homes will be monitored by government for their safety.

There are better ways of managing deviant children. Rehabilitation centres with psychiatrists, child psychologists, vocational centres etc will do better. Of course Quranic schools (under government supervision) can be incorporated for Muslims.

The case of the PhD holder is baffling though. That's more like abduction and religious intolerance. He has every right to his choice as an adult. He's probably not even a Christian..at least he didn't say he is. Maybe he's just a passive Muslim which is unacceptable to his people.

These are the 'Schools' producing Northern leaders from time immemorial.

These Gidan Da'a (Discipline House) are all over Muslim communities of Hausafulanis north.

Another ones yet to be exposed are Gidan Yan banga. (Vigilantes command centres) those are the real SARS if caught by them mostly in Rural Hausafulani Muslims community of Core North.

We grew up with all these in core North. As children we thought it's normal. Some of our friends were regular victims.
