I think we need to understand this post very well. The Church only organized a competition called Queen of CYON (Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria, Lagos branch). To become a queen of CYON you are meant to compete with other youths on bible quiz, intellectual debates, knowledge of Church's doctrines, table etiquette, cooking competition etc.

The lady on this post won that competition and she is to compete in a state (Bayelsa State) organized beauty pageant. I think the person who posted this thread confused us with his own understanding. It is better to know what being Queen of CYON entails.

And I share his views that such a beauty contest is not supposed be heard of taking place in the church in the first place.

For your information, i am not against someone participating in a beauty contest, for as long as the process doesn't lead to someone compromising his or her godly values, I'm fine with it.

But what I have issues with is a church organising a beauty contests or other similar competitions that takes place in the church as those I outlined, because they are worldly and not godly in nature.

If the person who posted it was Catholic then he would know the reason why "MBGN" was used.
Secondly, what exactly is "wordly" about a beauty pageant? Let's not talk just for talking sake or because some religious folk tell us it's not "wordly".
Do you know the format and manner in which the pageant takes place in the Church?
Let's not be more Christian than those in the Bible by criticising everything just because we want to show we are outraged at someone else's "unchristianity".
