go and feed your 200 million poverty capital of the world citizens. Do you know the meaning of trade. It goes two ways.Did you listen to the man.Ghana will rather block trades with Nigeria and rather trade with Dubai and Europe.Already trade among West African ECOWAS members is the lowest in the world. Ghana exports gold, timber, oil, manufactured products, etc worth 17 billion dollars and out of it,just 80 million dollars goes to Nigeria. So how does a few loss not even loss cos the products can be sold to Europe and China. How does 80 million dollars feed Ghana. Tell me.It's your own people that will suffer cos you can't trade among all these countries again and no imports and exports for them thus businesses and jobs collapsing in Nigeria. Food and goods more than double in prices and majority of your people can't afford such high inflated living. You can't even feed yourself thus closing all your borders to starve yourselves and you're ignorantly shouting that you feed Africa.Despicable words.
What stops them from Dubai and EU, bunch of moronic neighbors that have no respect for others. When Ghana dey do their mess den forget say ECOWAS protocol dey den baa? If una like make una shit for body, border remains closed.

What Buhari is doing to Nigeria is giving Nigeria the North Korea treatment. In this modern Age you can not live in Isolation. What is the work of customs and immigration if not to curb smuggling and illegal entry. What we accuse Benin of doing. Nigeria does it times two. Take a stroll to Major Markets in Nigeria Idumota, Ladipo, Tradefair,Main Market in Onithsa, Kano you see Nationals of other African countries coming to buy goods obviously not made in Nigeria for sale in their countries

Where are the "most companies" that left Nigeria for Ghana? FYI fuel is more expensive in ghana than in Nigeria. I don't think you have even been to a border not to mention another country.

How does the union intend to implement the proposed boycott of made-in-Nigeria products, according to the reported statement you issued?

I don’t know where that came from. Maybe one of my regions issued that statement. But as far as I am concerned, the national association has not come out with any statement of that nature. I will have to check from my regions. As far as the national (body) is concerned, we haven’t called for any boycott.
Where is that Onye Fii that was saying that Ghanian Traders Union go soon vex, retaliate and boycott Nigerian goods and ban them from entering Ghana? These my ghanian people, they can make mouth? grin grin grin grin grin grin

If them born them well, make them follow wetin Ghanians dey rant on social media and retaliate. If them no enter Hard recession eh, just call me second Buhari................................... grin grin grin

Go n rest pls. You arent making sane comments.

This is the best decision so far. Buy Nigeria to grow Nigeria. Let's tackle that first we will get to the issue of embezzlement soon.

Nobody has Time to engage you mouthy Ghanaians in your usual back and forth argument.
Ghanaians that will never agree that their country is lacking in any area, even it means lying and making illogical arguments.
Nigeria closed it's border and you are feeling the heat, your Minister's ran to Abuja to pleed for a change of mind, your trade union is complaining...but random Ghanaian citizens that just happen to have access to the internet will still argue that Ghana doesn't need Nigeria, that Ghana is far better than Nigeria, Nigeria is poverty capital of the world bla bla,
If countries were developed with words and boasting, Ghana would be a planet on it's own.
Sadly the lies you Ghanaians tell yourselves doesn't change the reality on ground.

Will you shut up. Only the land borders were closed while the seaports and freight services are open. There is no absolute shut down going on in the country. Curbing smuggling through our land borders is a job well done and you should shut up if you have nothing sensible to type

You don’t realize Ghana is speaking for the rest of west Africa? Ghana’s economy is growing rapaciously at 8%, grin the highest in Africa grin grin but Ghana has an obligation to speak for all the remaining countries in West Africa. Fuckeduppedness Ghana hasn’t ruled out closing its borders to nigerian goods and services. That is a real possibility if this nonsense continue beyond Christmas.

But can nigeria keep their border closed beyond Christmas? Two things could happen. The price of a bag of rice could double, triple or even quadruple by Christmas grin secondly, Nigeria’s generator-powered economy will enter into recession again in early 2020 grin. Those are real possibilities. When these scenarios happen, don’t come back here and say I am a prophet. Fuckeduppedness

Nigerias air and sea borders are open.If they were not smuggling and paying their taxes dutifully to Nigeria, then using our sea borders wouldnt make so much of a difference in their trade costs

But we all know the drill...smugglers are the ones complaining. And that official data on the volume of trade with Ghana does not count all your smuggled goods which appears to be the in the majority with this outcry.

Its no longer bussiness as ussual.Use the right channels if you must trade with Nigeria.Insist Nigerians do so as well to trade with you.Simple

At least bullets and fake army uniform will stop entering Nigeria through the cotonou area...Dont know about Niger though.A large portion of those complaining are also criminals.

You are right about Toyota. Despite the heavy patronage of their products in Nigeria they decided to go to Ghana knowing fully well most of the cars will end up in Nigeria.

Our local made goods must be patronized

Despite our poverty level ehn. One man in Nigeria can buy the whole of Ghana plus its citizens back to back.

Do you know what it's means to sell to over 200million people?

Ode! A country like a state population in Nigeria is talking about who loses more. Better to and sell to the Dubai and Europe if you won't pay charges.

Your lack of understanding of market/trade metrics is hurting your projection of possible outcomes. Most foreign companies operating in Ghana are using Ghana as an access point to the Nigerian market given Ghana's stable electricity and relative calmness. In fact, several signed assembling projects like the Sinotruk International, China’s first heavy-duty truck manufacturer, planning to make Ghana it's West Africa hub will be canceled once they realised they can't access Nigerian market from outside. Nigeria is the most populous African nation with a consumption rate more than 20 African countries. This was why European pac with West African nations has not been renewed because Nigeria refused. Meaning, the rest of the region has little to no significance to the European nations seeking the renewal of the pac. Same way AfCFT agreement wasn't signed despite having 51 nations until Nigeria signed.

Again, why I agreed Nigeria will suffer at an early stage, especially when it comes to products it is not self-sufficient, it would be foolish to not acknowledge how this will help deepen its local market in terms of manufacturing, market structure, job creation, etc. Nigeria is a 200 million market that can't service itself, the move would help broaden the market, especially at a period when the Central Bank of Nigeria has increased Loan-to-Deposit ratio to 65 percent. Suggesting businesses will have access to more cash to commence backward integration.

It would be myopic to think Nigeria needs small markets, not up to its 6 states, to thrive. In fact, this traders' association knows nothing about international trade and power, if Ghana forged an alliance or do anything that hurt Nigerian interest it won't stop at the border. Gas for electricity would be stopped and several other benefits would be stopped to force decorum. Go and ask Mexico, Venezuela, Canada etc.

You should be grateful that Nigeria's leaders are old boys with zero economic fundamentals. In years, that might change.
