abbey621: I think you misunderstand the realities and confusing it with lack of discipline or a regard for handwork as against shortcuts. Your points are superfluous! How would you rationalize sex and failure at aptitude test ? You are in Nigeria dear, you know, also, that failure in some exams requires fact checking! Again does sex causes outright failure? Because if so then everyone in the world should be a failure on the guise that nobody has sex which I highly doubt. You are missing another point too. The question to ask on why student bribe lecturers isn't because of sex or promiscuity, it's more to do with the realities of the Nigerian system! People have come to realise that hard work doesn't pay in Nigeria and that's why the smartest suffer and are vilified while those with shortcut knowledge are glorified, they bask in ostentatious wealth and people find themselves adoring them and wishing. On the other hand, however, I'm not lost on the realities, and I can effortlessly point you in the direction of several promiscuous brilliant minds. Davinci, Einstein, Pablo Picasso among several others. The point here isn't the distraction it causes, it's how it's handled. Sex/romance is an expression of self, although, I won't deny how it hurts the attention span but that as well is subject to the level of mental dexterity a person has or how psychologically, a person is developed. Lastly, What's the truth? Because I'm sure if you knew, you wouldn't even state what you typed as true! Do your research! And I will do you one better read a bit on biology, and psychology, I think both fields suffices for a rounded understanding or knowledge of the subject! And if you want your mind blown read on astronomy or astrophysics, when you're done please come back and tell me if you can thump your hand on your chest to state you know the truth. 1 Like |

Kulushkalash: What you wrote is total hogwash! No I'm not in Nigeria, I grew up in Nigeria and I have also seen the realities beyond Nigeria. Unless you are saying majority of those that failed their exams did so unjustly then you have no point! Even the brilliant minds you cited would show that most of them in their youths were rather inept socially, Einstein was often viewed as retarded. I already told you to do your research using Google , the majority of the scientific community agrees that the more active you are socially and romantically, the less time you have for active scholarly research. Moving on, you keep mentioning sex but I went beyond sex, I'm talking about all the problems a heartbreak, thinking of how to please a lover and so on brings. I'm talking about the endless hours of daydreaming, how one wrong disagreement or action involving a lover can make one sick or troubled for weeks or months. Take it or leave it, facts are facts. Majority of Nigerian graduates cannot successfully put together a well written CV, majority cannot successfully demonstrate the required skillset needed to pass interviews at most companies. How can you be producing thousands of graduates per yeaar and less than 20% are seen as ready for the job market? I've not only been an employee but now I'm also an employer, I'm not here to argue baselessly or convince you otherwise, I'm not here for your mumbo jumbo! You can cite examples of a few anormalities but once you do a proper survey of most intellectual minds and their lives growing up, you can't deny that most of them were awkward socially. In fact they were so occupied with getting good grades and mastering their craft, they often grew up isolated and out of sync. |

scaramucci:... I found myself in a school whose pride was to set morals and standards for students who also knew the reasons they were in school.... Secondly l had humans and sensible class mates who didn't frolick like shameless dogs while in school, that is what I call maturity ...... Imagine how proud you feel to say you did it |

abbey621: What i wrote is total hogwash? Are you being objective? I sense bias creeping in! I regard your perspective and understand the dilemmas you motioned in analysing the intricacies of sex! But you have to agree with me that all of these are the sufferings of the underdeveloped mind. However, I make a point for the place of the mind in this array. Picasso has been promiscuous from age 16/17! And yet, he came off with astounding works, same for Einstein. Indeed there are socially inept folks but that does not mean they don't have sex. I think we really should analyse sex and how it's seen. I make a case for it as a lifestyle and a rather natural course of human nature. Again should scientist or those mentioned be the criteria for measuring brilliance or intellectual abilities. On individuals not being able to write cvs or aptitude test; I'd restate that it has nothing to do with sex, as several other reason could be a cause. And you can test me on the basis of aptitude test, or Cv's to know whether i am intellectually inept. There is a bias in your argument and I hope you see it; sex or its intricacies doesn't mean academic backwardness there are other vices! |
Re: Students' Romance In Classroom: Nigerians React by abbey621(m): 6:19pm On Oct 29, 2019 |
Kulushkalash: You're still getting it wrong. You keep mistaken anormalities for the norm even at that you're only partially correct. You regard Einstein as having a promiscous youth, I don't see it! Einstein in his teenage years was rather uninteresting, he did not fit in socially and was often referred to as 'dopey'. If he was wild and sowing his oats everywhere, I'm sure things might have turned out differently. Moving on, individuals not being able to write proper CVs or defend themselves during interview is evidence of ineptitude. How can you graduate from a university and be as clueless as before you went in? I keep telling you it's not only about sex, it's about romantic fantasies and all the complications of occupying your mind with the thoughts of lover/lovers. When pleasing a girl is more important than that STAT201 or BUS301 Assignment, when Valentine is more important than studying one week till Final exams. You may think they don't correlate but the result shows otherwise. You can make excuses all you want but you know there's no smoke without fire. Most first class students are usually not out there partying late every weekend or banging left and right. Most first class students are very competent and able to defend themselves during interviews, most sacrificed a lot and are easily not distracted by social vanities. I never said SEX/RELATIONSHIPS was the only reason, I just cited it as a contributing factor that no one can DENY! |
