At least 70 people have been killed after gas cooking stoves exploded and set fire to a crowded train in Pakistan. More than 30 people were wounded, some critically, in the blaze which started when two gas stoves being used by poorer passengers to cook breakfast on Thursday morning blew up. As smoke and flames tore through the train, desperate passengers threw themselves out of the moving carriages - many of them jumping to their deaths. Capitalism has done too much harm than good to the society. Imagine travelling on a long journey without money for food even though food is sold on board. The poor are always been subjected to inhuman situations where they make wrong and risky decisions like cooking inside a train I even suspect will be over-crowded because of inability to buy food that is sold onboard. This is quite unfortunate. By the way, who gave the go-ahead for there to be cooking on-board a train? Is that a norm or some people begged to be allowed to cook and the driver okayed it? eTECTIV:poverty can cause anything. "Hot plates or electric cookers are on the ban list of almost all Nigerian universities but over 90% of students use them. Not because they want to, but because there are no other cheaper alternatives. Either use them, or you stay hungry. Poverty can make people ignore rules and regulations and even safety laws sometimes. There was food being sold on board but they couldn't afford it. I remember those days when travelling to Lagos and we get to Ore in Ondo state. When people are buying good food, I will only buy banana and groundnut.  because that was what I could afford by then. We shouldn't blame them, blame this excessive capitalism that makes not even the slightest provisions for the less privileged. 47 Likes 1 Share |

How did this happen, was the gas pipe line not confined to the kitchen section of the train only? This is probably a disaster caused by poor safety design and planning. |
