Tribalism and Nepotism has destroyed my great alma mater. These days electricity is now a luxury. Every darn thing attracts fees these days.
The last great VC was Oshodin every other person after him was a bloody criminal. As for Oramwense how he's not under arrest still baffles me. That man ran the school like his business venture

The gridlock on that road is sometimes second to none. With the students blocking the road, some people have to be prepare for their one day journey to be converted to two or three days journey as the case may be. Unfortunately the people causing the problems may not be on the road today.

I can relate with their pains and frustration especially those staying in hall 3 and 4.

Can still remember the stench starting from the hostel entrance that year 07/08.

Imagine now that there is no light/water. Must be like a prison yard for the students.

Relevant authorities should fix this ASAP!!!! angry angry angry angry

Reason?

The outgoing vice chancellor is on an embezzlement mission. He wants to pocket light and fuel money before he finally leaves. His tenure has been the worst so far, he increased school fees from 15k to 41k for arts, then 53k for science students..

Acceptance fee 60k, 100lvl sch fees 70k for arts, 76k for science. Upon all these, the school is still not being ran effectively. No water in school hostels, no light both in school hostel and school itself.. These days it's better to stay at home, light candle and read than to come inside school for night class.

The vice chancellor's oratory is a shame to the entire school, even to read it off a book is still difficult for him. He lacks the ability to construct good sentences, I wonder how he taught his students. Heard he's the only VC that came into power without being a professor, he became a professor in office. He just has the connect, and it is what kills my beloved country.

Honestly, I wonder how those who are proud of being Nigerians manage to survive their mental state.

I personally have always been angry being born a Nigerian.
UNN used to have a hostel where you defecate on already piled up sh***ts as at 1999 when I schooled there.
Just recently I asked my juvenile cousin who stay in one of the hostels and he said it is even worse.

Poor electiricity is due to the fact that we aren't paying enough in revenue to sustain 24/7 light supply

So the DISCOS and GENCOS don't have enough cash to supply power. (And they now supply areas where people pay regularly better than other areas. Someone high up in the DISCO hierachy told a relative of mine that DISCOS allegedly now supply 'priority areas')

On the water and other supply issues, the truth is, we are not paying enough in bills to have decent water supply.

And then we turn around and expect government to do all these things from a budget (before looting) of 22billion pounds (just to show how scanty that budget is, the UK police spends 12billion pounds annually)..when in relaity, we need a budget of 100billion pounds.

And we keep on eelcting governments whose agenda is simply to share money. Not to make polices that would increase the amount of money we have, or to agressively fight corruption.

It is a good thing that these students are protesting. But at the same time, many of them won;t accept a fee increase, won't accept something like council taxes of N40000 and above, won't accept increase in power charges, as well as deregulation of the oil downstream sector...which would lead to investment in power supply indirectly and more revenue for the government.

They want things to be like it was when our gradparents went to school...back when the number of students in university was far far less than it is now. In 1975, students had better welfare than they do now...and their number was less than 40000 nationwide. Now we have about 3-5 million students, and the budget is decreasing.

This is what poor management has reduced Great Uniben to.... This is quite saddening!!! And most of the administrative heads will send their kids abroad or neighboring countries to school.

If negroes can't manage a mere tertiary institution, how then can they manage the affairs of a state or a nation??! Tomorrow, some of you will wonder why professors can't be allowed to hold key political positions... Just look at this protracted mess!!!
