The Managing Director of an agency of the federal government is running from pillar to post, having drawn the ire of the Presidency for acquiring a N140 million bullet proof Toyota SUV as his official car.

The Presidency is said to be miffed that the head of a federal agency would spend that amount of money on official car in a regime that is waging war against corruption and striving to arrest the culture of official profligacy.

SENTRY gathered that many heads may roll over the matter as investigation was already being conducted into how approval was secured for the said sum in spite of the serious scrutiny of financial requests by ministries and agencies.

The MD in question is running helter-skelter for an audience with those that matter in President Muhammadu Buhari’s kitchen cabinet as petitions are flying in from the agency.

Corruption increased the moment our govt swapped peugeot 504 for toyota landcruisers, prados, sequiona, camrys and others, as official cars for top govt officials. The money the govts at different levels spend on purchase and servicing these cars is enough to build car plants in the country.

Most useless news report I've ever read. Almost threw up reading it.

The agency has no name.

The ministry under which the agency is has no name.

The MD has no name.

Very useless report to say the least.

Can you blame him who no want protection. Time is coming when the poor will feed on the rich speak before you become a victim of other people's carry over.

If you die by road accident na carry over.
If you die by fake drugs na carryover. The things we keep quiet for are the things that kill us in this country na carryover. Somebody else have enjoyed the benefit of our ignorance they are big people now.

I hope you know Peugeot is more expensive than Camry and harder to maintain because of the sensors and whatnot?

Anyway a useless report indeed. Government agencies waste money any-how

Idiotic statement, you can decide to criticise the government for insecurity but using it to defend a very wasteful unauthorized use of state funds is nothing short of idiotic. If the man feels insecured to work for government then leave but if you are not going to leave stick to the rules.

They had good reason to scrap the 504...Peugeot scrapped the brand / stopped making it in 2006 in Nigeria.

And funnily enough, by 2006, Peugeot 504 was only made in Nigeria...every other country had scrapped it.

Plus, there were other better Peugeot brands available...the 406 was around in 2001.

And corruption was still prevalent when we used the 504. 504''s were the car of choice under the Second Republic...which was so corrupt

140million naira for a car. Only that car can feed 5 whole communities for this Christmas and you still have balance left.
