I was just pondering on it. We've 1GB, 2GB, 3GB, 4GB, 6GB and 8GB. I was thinking maybe because they are odd numbers but 1 and 3 are odd numbers too.

and you are right too to some extent.

its possible for phone to have 5gb ram but due to the fact that computers run on the binary system which is numbers to the power of 2.

manufacturers will need 2 or more chip create 5gb.

e.g 4gb chip + another 1gb chip to create 5gb ram. but because manufacturers need all the space they can get on the phone they just leave it at 1 chip.

It has to do with Chinese and Asia culture.. Number 5 and 7 has deep meaning in their culture

Actually, it's 2 to the powers always because there is only two digits in binary language a.k.a. machinary language 0's & 1's... machines can only understand those 2 numbers

Thats how the data is stored in the memory cells and related to "two to the power of n", 2^n (binary number). That is how data is stored.
For example, 2^0 = 1, 2^1 = 2, 2^2 = 4, 2^3=8, 2^4=16, etc..2^n, that's why there is no odd number.(Memory Card/Flash drive.)

This even explains why your 3gb ram never completely 3GB
So the Binary is splitting it into 2.
