most networks or industries all over the world don't rely on government to give them power. They produce their own power.

And multiple taxes is a fallacy and it was in the past. Firs and telecom operators have put a stop to that. You people should give it a rest already.
There are multiple levies imposed on these operators hence it contributes to high tariff. I agree telecom operators shouldn't rely on government to power their machines however the cost of power is expensive.

Guy don't make me talk this morning. I mean what did you just write there. Wetin concern me concern their operating cost. This is a really bad excuse. After struggling to make enough money to buy data thinking it would last for a month, only for it to finish in a week. Because of their stupid zapping. How is it lawful? How you defend this at all baffles me. When someone pay for something he should get exactly what he paid for. If the telecom companies can't afford it then reduce the data volume. As long as I get what I pay for then am cool with that.

How would you feel if you bought a 50kg bag of rice only to find out that 50+% of it is made up of shells and dirt? Make sure you still give this same excuse too. I don't get Nigerians really? Have we gotten so used to being exploited that we now make excuse for those who are doing the exploitation. How does 1 open his mouth and defend this people suprises me. I paid for something, give me exactly what I paid, how is that a big ask? Even if you want to zap, zap the bonus but the real data someone paid for should be left untouched. Because you don't know how the person struggled to get the money.

Nigerians are truly the problem of Nigeria. angry
Do you have problem with comprehension? Didn't you read the last sentence that answers your query?

Fat lie. I use Glo full time and one day I decided trying airtel on the same phone to stream match like I always do with Glo. Usually it takes 450MB to complete a match on Glo ever since I have been using it, the 2 times I tried airtel 1GB finished at around 70-78mins.

They zap twice your actual data usage. My phone shows me the data amount used which always counts accurately on Glo but never on Airtel.....can you explain?

So let me explain a bit to you

On most video streaming applications, the content provider ( Youtube, Mobdro etc ) provide you QoS ( quality of service) based on your throughput ( internet speed) and/or device

So if you have a good throughput and a device capable of HD/4K ( phone , TV ) , they will serve you with higher video quality 720p , 1080p , 4K

If you want to prove me wrong, do a speed test for your GLO and Airtel, you will notice that Airtel most likely provided you with a better speed therefore , based on this , the content provider offered your a higher quality content.

In addition to that, if the content service runs advertisement, they tend to push more adverts when you have a good throughput ( speed).

Has the minister considered the erratic epileptic power supply faced in Nigeria?
Has he considered the multiple taxes paid by these operators?
Rather than reducing the price further they should insist on quality and quantity delivery.
Oga advocate, who sent you? Have the telecom companies come out to complain that they can't implement the order? Do you know the taxation arrangement in other countries where data is cheaper? Please mind your business.

Again you are completely wrong. I'm highly tech savvy with huge know how content quality works when streaming. My streaming app is stationed on 420p so I will rule out your thought about it getting up to 720p or 1080p.

Glo is the fastest 4G network in my location as it's speed test doubles that of Airtel 4G. Are you also telling me my phone can't accurately read the consumed data only on Airtel but it does on Glo?

truly speaking I've been noticing it, illegal data zapping is a thing with all these service providers. very much in airtel and mtn! i don't know about glo but i know 9 mobile has the least.
imagine buying 750 airtel and in two minutes every thing disappeared not as if i was downloading! they are cheating us!

Not just reducing the cost but also removing the validity period or better still, extend it.

I shouldn't purchase a product and the seller will have to force me to use it within a specified period of time...

My query is you giving flimsy excuse as to why they zap data. Which was total rubbish. There's no excuse in this world that validate cheating your consumers. Call a spade a spade stop defending crooks. They have no excuse. And yes they have been cheating Nigerians for years so its only fair they reduce those prices.

When I said quantity and quality I thought you would figure it out. Quantity here means large data which invariably mean reduction in price but large data size. Quality means good service reception and data gauge that's I get what I pay for with fast internet delivery. No need for zapping as some of you call it. However in getting this service there is a price to pay such that the buyers and the sellers would be happy. The service providers are willingly to reduce price but the high cost of service delivery has been a major obstacle. These gsm operators are slightly increasing call rates unknown to many Nigerians because they are not observant. What Nigerians should fight for is quality service delivery because if these operators yield to yearnings on data reduction, the quality of service would drop. Your 4g speed would worst as it is. Lastly removal of validity period on data should be a major concern not just price reduction

thanks for the advice but i won't help them manage the data i bought with my own money. their data zapping is too much and a dishonest bargain to purchase. you only use 20% of the data you buy before the others are zapped
