Two members of the 2019 National Youth Service Corps Batch C Stream currently undergoing the three-week orientation exercise in Ebonyi State have been sent home from camp for refusing to wear trousers.

A statement from the spokesperson of the NYSC in the state, Ngozi Ukwuoma, listed the corps members as Okafor Love Obianuju with registration number EB/19C/0523 and Odji Oritsetsolaye (EB/19C/0530).

According to the statement, they were spotted by the Camp Director, Isu Josephine, and her team during her routine morning inspection, wearing white T-shirts and skirts.

“When they were accosted and interrogated, they disclosed that they could not wear the white shorts and the trousers given to them by the NYSC since it was against their faith,” the statement read.

“Efforts were, however, made by the office of the Camp Director to make them see reason why they must obey the rules and regulations guiding the orientation and NYSC, but all efforts to do that proved futile”, the statement said

The spokesperson narrated that after efforts to make them change their minds were rebuffed, the matter was officially reported and the proceedings for de-kitting were initiated.

“The corps members were queried and subsequently made to face the camp court, where they were found guilty, having made it categorically clear that they were ready to bear the consequences of their actions”, she said.

Mrs Ukwuoma noted that the court recommendations were submitted to the camp Management and the Camp Director was directed to de-kit the Corps Members.

“They were de-kitted in the presence of security agents, who also escorted them to the gate as they left the camp”, the spokesperson added.

Jehovah Witness or Deeper Life. Christianity is really a religion of peace. If they tried this with Muslims/ Hijab, MURIC will be on their case for eternity.

Why would one not want to abid to the rules governing an institution & you want to be in such institution

If your religion forbids you to wear the opposite sex wear,then behave as if NYSC don't exist..rather than coming to cause trouble & painting NYSC black..

In conclusion,when one goes to Rome,behave like the Romans...if not(you know the rest)

BTW, if someone can put on hijab and 7/7, skirts should be made optional too, or what do you think?

Most carry-over in the university are man-made. I think they will come back next year for the same exercise.

They should allow skirt too because nysc caused this by approving ijab for Muslims.

But they approved hijab abi.. una never see anything for Nigeria.. until you start making what is law , law it will still be like this.

Truncating certain laws are often out of place as these as been the norm these days including our so called leaders that can't abide by court orders.

They should have not bordered coming to camp at all; see their head like ojoto table market square!!!

Same thing happend. In Fanisau Camp. But the lady later concure.

For those dragging MURIC into this bfor the whole De-kitting the camp must have contacted their leaders.

Remember the Nigeria constitution is higher which gave them right to practice their religion too.

Their faith did not tell them that NYSC does not allow skirts as part of uniform?

Do they want to be showing the whole world their pata and shimi when they are doing all those climbing tasks in camp?

Are they the first JW or Deeper Life members to do NYSC? Even the Bible says "Give unto Caesar what is Caesar's and to God, what is God's"

Wearing trouser for one year will jot reduce your Christianity or send you to the hell you are avoiding. Even the Bible teaches us to apply wisdom in all we do. God is not a dictatorial sadist that will punish you for wearing trouser.

It is this sort of foolishness and pharisee behavior that Jesus does not align with.

Let their church give them jobs. They can become preachers, dem no need NYSC for that one

Rules are meant to be broken but not in all cases
