People underrate this SUV. Just don't go for 2005 models upward which comes with 4.0 engine. Those models have very poor fuel economy. The 1999 to 2002 comes with 3.3 engine while 2003- 2004 comes with 3.5 engine. I have been using the 2001 for close to 2 years now, no problems at all. Just basic maintenance. Its rugged and reliable. Perfect for Nigerian roads.

It is a nice car but it has the following issues in my opinion:

1. Very Very poor economy
2. The HMI on the dashboard is very sensitive to heat. You would need a spare one when it eventually blanks out.
3. The leather quality is quite poor.
4. Driver’s seat is not really comfortable.

If you can deal with these, then you are good to go. Be warned that it’s second value is almost none existent here in Nigeria. So you would have to take care of it in order to have a good chance of selling it; but it doesn’t sell quickly.

Don't mind them. People with little or no experience on vehicles be out there regurgitating the illiterate knowledge about cars that they heard from one Tao and Muftau that did not even finish primary six before going to learn work as mechanics. It's poverty and lack of exposure that would make any body utter the statement "it's either Toyota or nothing". Let God give you grace to drive solid SUVs and you'd know Toyota is nothing compared to the likes of Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Land Rover products.

Their vehicles are more expensive than durable Tokunbo cars.

They gave Khafi of BBnaija a small sedan car and they said its market value is N7million.

A 2012 Toyota Corolla tokunbo and a 2013 Honda Accord are more durable that the car, but also cheaper

That's how one was telling me today that my brain box was faulty. I told him it wasn't brainbox issue that was wrong with my car but he still kept saying it's brainbox. In my mind, I'm like this idiot doesn't know how much the brainbox of a 2012 sienna is, that he is just calling like that. I ignored him until a competent rewire came and fixed what was wrong with it. Like say I be jjc, na so e for commit me on top am, go de make me waste money.
