Please, I need suggestion on a SUV (tokunbo/Nigerian used) that is maintenance friendly. I need it primarily to commute to and from work. My budget is 1.4m.
I have checked out some Honda CRV, Toyota RaV4 and Hyundai's santa fe and ix35 (on Jiji only to get idea) . Its all confusing

Pls go for Toyota. U will enjoy it and it very cheap to maintain.

It is a nice car but it has the following issues in my opinion:

1. Very Very poor economy
2. The HMI on the dashboard is very sensitive to heat. You would need a spare one when it eventually blanks out.
3. The leather quality is quite poor.
4. Driver’s seat is not really comfortable.

If you can deal with these, then you are good to go. Be warned that it’s second value is almost none existent here in Nigeria. So you would have to take care of it in order to have a good chance of selling it; but it doesn’t sell quickly.

AND WHAT ARE THE BRANDS CAN YOU SUGGEST FOR SOMEONE? TALKING ABOUT 2ND VALUE, ECONOMY, AVAILABILITY OF PARTS AND MECHANICS... TNX

Oga there is a factory procedure to manually reset the ignition timing for Nissan and infiniti vehicles if you observe high fuel consumption under normal driving condition.

Then buying an SUV when you don't have much money to spare is an added problem: mechanics and spare parts dealers will automatically want to rip you off simply because they think you're a "big man " for riding big car.

How do you mean exactly? People use Murano and don't have problems with it, stop confusing lack of maintenance with functionality of the car.
We know the average Nigerian don't have any form of maintenance culture.
Service your transmission and u go to go. V6 3.5 and trust me better interior comfort that any of your Toyota or Honda for a 2006 car

I know of two different individuals who used murano and it wasn't a pleasant experience. No matter what anyone says, those guys will never go near a murano or even any vehicle with cvt transmission for that matter. Btw, there are better alternatives- excellent options that dont require tons of money to maintain.

If you are thinking of buying car and feel deep down you that you would sell it in a few year’s time, a Toyota is a no-brainer. We are Toyota-biased here. With regards to parts, you would find almost all parts in Ladipo. If you are very good with the use of the internet, eBay is fantastic. You can import them from eBay and may get it cheaper than what those guys at Ladipo offer. Then you would have to know the name of the part and it’s number.

Buying an SUV at that budget is setting himself up for future troubles and disaster

From my experience Murano is a money sucking trap just waiting to swallow you.

It's good to drive but when you push it or spend fixing it its not good at all.
