The same investment was burnt in an inferno at onitsha market, have a nice day
9ja083:

Sorry am already into it.
. And in the village, 90% of ppl cant afford going to big hospital for treatment. So i opened a health center in village.
Now am thinking of adding cars and schools to it.
With 8 million, u can have a nursery and primary schools.
With 8 million u can open a motor part business.
With 8 million u can open a good health centers in your village.
With 8 million u can have a standard pharmacy.
With 8 million u can be a major distributor in diapers.
With 8 million u have a mini mall.
All u have to do is to think of what ppl actually need in your location then move into it. If u can't handle it, invite an expert let them guide you.
Everything in this country is money but u need your brain to start thinking.
Even if u want to move to agriculture, just make sure ppl knows what u are doing and u will have customers.
So when i use the word THINK am always thinking of business that wont hurt anyone

You're obviously not a business man.
You're mentioning health centers and pharmacy? Are these businesses anyone can do?
And who told you all proprietors of school are doing financially better than anyone who uses same money to travel out.

How can a human being spend 8 million just to travel out to work for some1?
When u get there, u will spend money for an apartment, food and health. U dont have insurance so things will be difficult. So why not save urself the stress and be a boss of your own.
The only thing that can take me outside this country is vacation or to learn more for my sch project. Am a boss of my own and i dont regret it one beat.

Hmmmmm!!! Nigerians and Canadian dream, American dream, European dream and whatever you all call it. If you are not doing well in Nigeria please if you have the opportunity to travel out do so and go try your luck.

Please if you are doing well for yourself in Nigeria and you dont have job offer in aforementioned places stay back and enjoy yourself in Nigeria. The truth of the matter is there are no professional jobs in Canada as it is being publicised but the Canadian government needs well educated people from the third world countries to do the blue collar jobs. Ofcourse there is nothing wrong with the blue collar jobs as far as it puts food on your table but as an ideal human being you will always want the best for yourself.

Now all these people saying they are doing it for their children are only deceiving themselves(those who are doing well in Nigeria).Your children have a better chance of becoming whatever they want here particularly when you have the resources to train them. Racism still exists no matter how you look at it.

Take a look at most Nigeria that study in the UK or the US majority of those who are able to pay their tuition without loans their parents live in Nigeria. Take a look at Nigerian billionaire where do they all live? Take a look at how some Africans born abroad are returning to Africa to invest and live in. Do you think all these people are stupid.

The truth is as a Nigerian the best place to live in if you have money is Nigeria. I honestly understand how hell Nigeria is as a country when you are poor. Take 10 Nigerians in Canada who left their professional and well paying jobs for Canada and ask them the bitter truth about the whole thing. I am not saying people dont get professional jobs there as well but you have to compete with lots of people just like in Nigeria. There is no country in the world where getting a high paying professional is easy. If you know of any please tell me.

But finally I wish everyone well in their endeavour.

You're speaking the truth.

Let me preface what I'm about to say that anyone has a right to live where ever they want.

That being said, I take a slight offense at the constant blows being dealt to NIgeria and Nigerians that are left behind. Why don't people just go on with their life abroad? Why do they have to ridicule those that either choose to stay or unable to make the move?

A lot of us are coming back home. I came back home this year after being gone for 33 years. Nigeria, as you said, is a wonderful place to live in if you are structured. I could have retired anywhere in the world. But I prefer Nigeria and especially Ibadan. That I chose to move to Ibadan destabilized one frustrated oil monkey on here who said I moved backwards grin

I stop arguing with people about how better Nigeria is than abroad if you have money to run things. But experience is the best teacher. I dont even advise people not to come when they tell me they want to because they will feel like you dont want them to be successful.

In all honesty i have gotten opportunities beyond my expectation since I landed here. But i am a realist and I know what majority of people face here in terms of hustling I could have been one of them as well.Despite the opportunities I have seen i believe I will be better of in Nigeria if i have a good job there.

A friend initially planned to bring his younger brother but he has changed his mind to using the money to invest so the brother can manage it.

In almost every country less than 1% do not struggle to survive the rest struggle to survive. It is just the reality of modern day capitalism.

My plan is to live in a quiet neighborhood too when I am finally back preferably Ilorin, Akure or Osogbo.

I dont have words for u.
Didn't ppl die in plane crash? Ppl also die in abroad via accident like that of today.
There's risk in your going out of your house. There's risk in your going to your friends house. Anything can happen to anybody.
If u have worked offshore before, u will understand that theirs risk that an engine can kill u instantly within seconds or fire can burn u while on duty. Ask ur engineer friends that work offshore.
If u are a doctor, a simple mistake can make u contact deadly disease while saving ppl's life. Ask of the Doctor and nurse that helped to prevent Ebola.
If u have a gas cooker or stove in your house, there's a risk in it. Ask of the house that was on fire last week in lagos. But that didn't stop ppl from doing what they are supposed to do. It didn't stop ppl from using electric stove or gas cooker or stove as some ppl call it.
If u are a friend to ppl , jealousy can make ur best friend kill u secretly. No one deserves that.
And dont be that kind of friend.
There's always risk in everything. I dont know what u do for a living. All i know is that if u check well, there's a risk in what u are doing.
Learn from ppl. Always have reasons to win and not reasons to be a failure. If u fail 8 times, remember that u stood 8 times. Never give up on whats good. Never back off from something positive that can add positive value to u.
Think positive. Be positively patient when it comes to business and u will enjoy it.

Many of you get wrong impression that everyone leaving Nigeria is about money. Some just want a better and a saner environment for their children where their children have more chances to national benefits even than they will in Nigeria, where there kids will not be harassed or killed by SARS for driving good cars or having dreadlocks, where there kids will have access to better health, may I remind you that even Buhari jets out for better treatments. The list goes on and on

Exactly

My plans to leave Nigeria permanently had nothing to do with money
I make good money in Nigeria,(by Nigerian standards)

But the.society is too messed up

Dangote can never be hustling for a visa.
If he goes to an embassy to apply for a visa, they wont ask him much but will say "thank u Sir. We are pleased that u are coming to invest in our country. "
Same with innoson, otedola etc

The question then becomes

Must a Nigerian get to that 1% bracket in order to be accorded that respect?
Or live life like a decent person?

The answer to this question is testament to why Nigeria is a messed up place

Many are leaving the country the country, the ones that got stuck in Libya during the war ,refuse to come back home to Nigeria... The ones that are coming back don't have not fully faced reality yet.. If you leaving the comfort of good electricity, good jobs, good roads, Good Health care system, security , better education etc to come to Nigeria ,and the ones in Nigeria are trying to leave by all means possible... Oga I don't know what does ones leaving to come to Nigeria are smoking.. Whatever it is must be very strong.... Strongest strain of weed ......

Let us be objective here.. Certain things need to be put in place before things can work.. The basic necessities that the government is supposed to provide.. It is now luxury things to those that can afford them.. Doing business in Nigeria itself so tough , me that I do business self it is tough for me .. I don't see myself ever staying and leaving in Nigeria.. The most I can is two months at a time.. Even the wealthy in Nigeria go back and fourth between their homes in South Africa, London, USA etc.. This gives them room to escape the madness and total dysfunctional that is going on in the country.. Large percentage of them are the cause for it.. People will say foreigners are making money in Nigeria.. Yes the lucky few or so .. But where is the money they are making going to ? It is going back to their own country to enjoy, the are taking their profits back to their country of origin.. Even the people in politics that are chopping money in government.. Those ones are taking stolen money oversea for save keeping, away from instability of the economy. Those are going back to Nigeria to settle finally ,I wish them the best of luck. ..

Ps.. The ones leaving the country are more than the ones coming to stay... That alone should tell you something..

It is not about hustling for visa that USA embassy cares about. All they care about is for you to return back home to your country .. Americans dont need dangote money my brother.. The hotel that I work for in my USA years ago.. Had billionaire richer than dangote and the few you mention.. Some of them if they had dangote's money they will kill themselves.. Some have donated more than worth dangote's worth .. Some are even younger than dangote.. There are levels to this sh*t bro.. The only thing American cares about when applying for visa at the embassy are few things

1. Do u have a criminal record.. Rich or poor does not matter to them

2. Can you take care of yourself while in the USA or are you going to be a nuisance to the government

3. Are you going for business and what type of business.. If dangote does business in USA ,tax alone will kill him ..do you know how much tax business companies pay ?

Yankee embassy could care less about dangote money, he will still has to go through the visa process like everybody else

Are you talking generally or the place I use to work? If you talking generally just to name one that we can fact check and proof ... ..

Bill Gates.. He has donated up to $50 billions dollars so far .. Keep in mind I said so far....

Michael Bloomberg: Former Mayor of New York City.. He has donated close to $6 billions to charity so far .. Dangote has more than or worth more than $6billions ..but at least this guys are donating billions of dollars not naira o ..
These are the ones so far I can think of or close to donating billions of dollars.. Am sure they are many more.

My point is that just because you are wealthy or dangote does not mean USA embassy will automatically give you visa .. You still have to go through process just like everyone else..

You surely have comprehension problem. Now get this straight into your skull I am not advising not to leave if you want to. If you have a good job for me like I said I will not think twice before leaving. This is what they will tell all of you and you will think people telling you are your enemy.

I have a friend here when he newly came each time I tell him Nigeria is not bad if you have money. His answer is always "no be me and you go go back". After about a year when he sees the reality completely, his new song his I will go back if I get 50k euro.

It's your life whatever you like do with it. Jump into the next available flight it's none of my business. Good luck to you.

Good Sir, like you, I have deep roots in Ibadan and have resided outside the country for decades. I agree that ibadan is a great place to retire after spending your productive earning years abroad, provided you have means to shuttle back and forth for healthcare and sanity reasons. You can live like a king even on social security alone that only affords a meager living in the US.
Living and working simultaneously in Nigeria is a very stressful proposition. I vowed never to do it again after working as an expat in a multinational.company in Lagos years after I had left. But kudos to you for going home to retire. May I ask if your spouse and kids are ther with you grin. Mine ran, did not look back after a one wek visit

Instead of spending so much just to travel, it will be better for me to use that money for investment.
Then countries will be looking for u. I applied twice and i didn't get the visa.
Since then i only think of investment in my village, town or city, state and thinking of expanding it in the country.
U don't have money for business right?
but u have money for international flight tro and fro.
U also have money for visa application and for processing fee.
Now put the money together and concentrate with all seriousness in an investment. Allow the business experts to guide you and u be a millionaire.
I wont encourage some1 whose struggling to use such amount to do what?
Next!
Don't let poverty overshadow you. Keep quiet if you have nothing to say

You hit on some really great points. Different people in different age groups will have different outlooks. I can’t imagine me being anywhere else than Nigeria. I can hit most of Europe from Lagos in 6 hours. Africa is open for tourism. I’m planning on a road tour to Gambia in a few years. So me being back in Nigeria doesn’t mean I’m sitting on a rocking chair whistling Yankee Doodle grin

I’m here alone. Soon to be ex wife decided not to come back and I’m not into long distance relationship at my tender age. It’s a blessing as I can make moves here without complications or considering another’s point of view.

Many people are in our situation, the wife staying back in USA or Europe and the husband in Nigeria.

How can a normal person save 8 million just to go and work for another person in another country when he can use that same capital to be a big boss in his country?
Those that travelled to Arab countries to work as house keepers are regretting it. Had it been they had the idea of using their money to invest in their business will they be crying for help?
Many are suffering outside this country but u wont know.
Like some1 said, take a stupid man to the white house, he will still be stupid.
Ppl have different opinions on this. Mine opinion is THOSE THAT ARE STRUGGLING TO SURVIVE SHOULD USE THE MONEY THEY HAVE FOR BETTER INVESTMENT INSTEAD OF TRAVELING TO ANOTHER COUNTRY TO WORK UNDER SOME1 WHO MIGHT NOT RESPECT U.
American embassy is the highest fraudster in the country yet everyone worships them and praise them. Americans knows that they wont give visa during certain times. Yet they will give u an appointment collect money form u and still deny u the visa. Who does that in their country? Is that not an insult? Are they not suppose to tell Nigerians that ppl of certain age bracket wont be given visa till so so time or day. But they will allow u to to pay for visa application fee, give u an appointment and wont give u visa even when u have no bad intentions.
Am in my country nobody will pursue me. America was once like Nigeria and they grow up and be who they are now.
There ppl in Nigeria who are 100% fine and not in poverty yet such have never crossed tge border.
There are Nigerians who are billionaires without the effort of travelling to a Whiteman's country.
Ppl like u always believe that without Whiteman's country u will be a nobody.
Yet the Whiteman will want to make sure u have more than sufficient amount of money in your account before travelling to his country.

You hit on some really great points. Different people in different age groups will have different outlooks. I can’t imagine me being anywhere else than Nigeria. Yes na...after spending the better and younger part of your life in the US...30 years is no joke. cheesy

I wish for all those younger youths in Nigeria who are eager to enjoy the best of what the Sane Countries have to offer and then come back to Nigeria(if they're are still interested in doing) to retire.
