am yet to receive mine, however, i believe the fan is like a laptop..it will have a port for 12v input and an ac to dc power pack.
so you can either connect a battery directly to the 12v input port to operate the fan like a rechargeable, or you use the ac/dc adapter/powerpack...and use it like a normal ac fan. i prefer the UKA fan model, as it has a small inbuilt battery, thus works for 1 or 2hrs as rechargeable fan

One or two hours is no deal to me; I need the fan to run overnight if need be. That's why I'm thinking of connecting directly to my battery bank or ac socket port so it won't go off in the middle of the night.

Fan has a port for 12v input and comes with both wire attached to positive and negative clip and an ac to dc cable. Watts at max speed is about 22w

Thanks. Seems it will serve my purpose then. I hope it won't be out of stock before month end sha.

brother,
why don't you contact juo and get yourself a low consumption dc/ac ceiling fan?
at full speed it's just about 25w and first or second speed would set you back only 5w.
I think it would serve you better than this standing fan you're trying to purchase.
best of all, you can obviously hook it up to your inverter system without stress.

Just out of curiosity why hasn't anyone experimented with Wind Turbines.

These past few weeks Sun shine was a huge luxury here in Port Harcourt.

In the month of Sept and October some days it rained or was cloudy for 6 straight days
With very poor solar yield. Even today 16th of Nov its still raining in ph.

I had to improvise and maneuver to make sure my batteries don't fall below 12.3v but even at that on 3 occasions the batteries fell to 11.9v and 12.1v before sunrise.

My battery bank is 48v 600amps (12nr) with a solar array of 7350w (15nr 250w & 12nr 300w) and 2nr Outback Charge Controller FM80

These has necessitated my research on wind turbines but it seems to have very poor reviews.

I want buy 2nr 1000w FuSystems wind turbine paralleled to give 2,000w.

Please those who have used wind turbines please what is experience.

You may only be to enjoy wind turbine if you stay in certain locations which may include but not limited to shorelines, city outskirts, farms with very few overhead vegetations. These are my experience with places with fairly good wind speed, although I have not used wind energy myself.

If you live in cities and especially in those with serious overcast heavy air as seen in industrialised cities like PH, you may not get adequate wind speed to enjoy a turbine except if installed several meters into the air.

I stand to be corrected from wind energy users sha.

The issue of wind turbine had been dealth with long long time ago when many of us were finding it hard to maintain healthy over nite voltage. But nowadays lithium brands have been helpful.
Pls Check out may be you may find it helpful.

My brother, this lithium thing wicked no be small. Haba! It now became a waiting game for me and the thing, counting the rate of voltage drop when it working. Shuo! Na so this thing talk say make I dey look am o.

12v 120ah 13.3v when fully charged on a 114 watts freezer. When first installed, I waited late into the night to watch the voltage drop to the 12.2v low voltage disconnect that I preprogrammed when it was on lead acid. 11:30pm, I was already sleepy and when it never reach 12.5volt I had to manually switch off the inverter myself. That is like some 5.5 hours extra mileage over the counterpart 12v 100ah lead acid battery. I no plan for any vigil abeg.

Following day I had to upward review the LV disconnect value to 12.4v (I'd have made it 12.5v but because the voltage fluctuates to 12.4v at startup of the freezer). I also downward review the solar panel disconnect voltage to 13.7v from 14.7v, HV reconnect to 13.4v from 14.4v (full charge of battery is 13.3v and it requires no equalization-float parameters of lead batteries). With 13.4v HV reconnect, the freezer starts up at around 10am. I retired the external charger used with the AGM since the lithium battery has an in-built charger, requiring you to only plug in an AC cable.

This freezer was until recently on 12v 100ah and by 6:30pm, the 12.2v low voltage already kicks in. Then with the AGM battery, by 9:30 in the morning, it has already reached the 14.4v reconnect point and freezer is on.

Now that results from this test run seems to be impressive in the past week, I think I'll retire all the lead batteries for less demanding tasks and replace with lithium, maybe even try a 24v pack for more breathtaking experiences.

I'm sure the charge controller you are looking out to determine whether you battery is full is basing the it's percentage on the battery voltage which is unreliable. My axpert inverter does that. Your battery will have different voltage based on the load applied to it. So a 100% battery when you put a sufficient load on it will suddenly drop to like say 80% and when you remove the load it rises back to 100%. For an accurate battery % reading get a battery meter that has a shunt to calculate amps going in and out to determine the battery percentage. I recommend the fangpusun bmv 700 on aliexpress.

Will the battery monitor be connected in series with the battery-inverter line in order to measure the amps? Most meters that do that require series connection. If it's only for voltage measurement, parallel connection suffices.

New type of DC meters that do not require series connection but works by parallel connection and hall effect sensor to measure current flow thru the battery-inverter positive lead are still on the expensive side, much more expensive than the counterpart AC hall sensor current meters.

How is the power bank performance? I won't mind getting it o. I thought I would get two of those fans by month end but with this jack up in price, I may only get one and save for the other. E good make person get money o, I for fon buy since.

The power bank is actually marketed as a UPS for laptop but it has 3v to 21v voltage selector depending on your requirement. The performance of that power bank is sweet, depending on the capacities of installed batteries of course (either 3 or 6 batteries can be installed to produce nominal of 11.1v, 12.4v full charge). Remember that your typical laptop battery also has similar 6 pcs installed 18650s.

I installed 6 18650s of 2,200mah each and have a runtime of 7hrs to 8hrs full speed after sundown, meanwhile it remains fully charged as long as power comes from the 50 watts panel whenever the fan runs during sun hours.

NB: Please if you will buy the bank, I think you need to be careful with the some buyers. I bought the first set of 2 pcs about 2 years ago and only recently came to realize its usefulness in the solar fan thingy, outside of the occasional laptop and majorly security LED floodlight application I use it for (thanks to one forumite here who posted that he tweaked 2 units laptop batteries to his solar fan and has overnight runtime).

With this new discovery and realising I might require more units, I placed 2 more new orders from a different seller (cheaper offers - 3k6 than that of 2 years ago - 7k+) but I painfully discovered that the function was slightly challenginly different and I probably got my money's worth - the new units heat up pretty quickly when they work at 12v and above.

Another difference is that while the former ones require only the single press momentary key to switch on, these new ones require simultaneous press of all three keys each time you need to use it (in the ideal setting, the 3 key operation is only required to activate the unit each time there is a battery change). This posed serious challenge in use of the device in solar application. Instead of gluing one switch down to permanently keep the unit switched on, now I have to think of a way to glue down three switches!

Finally, one of the two apparently burnt out on a 80 watts 12v panel. The former ones do well on 80 watts panel, although I mostly use it at the manufacturer's specs 50 watts safety margin.

Hello my Ogas in the house, I have a question, can a 14. 8v dc input burn a 12v ups? Because I use my ups when charging and the battery gets to that voltage in the afternoon, I have been using it like that of recent but just worried about the ups not burning due to overvoltage. The ups is a bluegate 650

A 12v ups or inverter is usually rated for voltage range of between 9.5v to 15.5v, and most usually have disconnect protection at the high voltage setpoint.

I hate ceiling fans. There are not mobile and therefore permanently change the appearance of the room, exept the luxury ceiling fans which beautify and if course does not come in solar LE consumption types.

For me, if I need anything like fan, standing fan does it or at worst orbit fan which is also small enough to be partially mobile and less conspicuous than those ceiling fans.

You are right Sir! Most clients don't want to spend but are expecting more... Though I'm not an installer but I can say that a standard solar setup is not cheap.

But as a good installer you should always stick to standard because word of mouth advert is the most powerful.
