The easiest way for a Governor to siphon away state money is to buy cars and donate. The supplier and buyer double the cost for each and a justification memo is drafted and presented for governor’s signature. Deal is made and billions of Naira exchange hands all within one or two weeks. No hustle of construction or waiting for equipment and governor is seen as caring leader, no one asks for the cost of the vehicles and governor can explain away that fraud called SECURITY VOTE or even the budget. Police will ride some of the cars for one or two years before they all fall apart due to disrepair or just disappear. I do respect Governors until they start purchasing hundreds of cars and donating them to othe Government agencies. 1 Like |

The best comment of the year..May God bless. But if you talk this before his people, they go dey talk say na politics we dey play. good one as much as Makinde buying 100 hyundai sedan 4 seater cars for the police being commendable, 100 cars in a state like Oyo state which is almost as large as SouthEast region is like droping a table spoon of salt in an olympic size swiming pool.. He should have borrowed the sense from Akeredolu by rehabilitating government cars littered around secetariate and police station rather than buying this toy cars... (atleast police van at Egbeda Police station at Bola Ige Market only need tires and new engine and we the CDC and landlord association are already contributing to fix it) Should there be a real police emergency how many officer would an hyundai carry? where would they keep arrested criminals, in the boots or lap them, perhaps tie them on the roof or bonnet? how will an Ak47 riffle fit into that small car and carry people?, is a toy car hyundai suitable for all terrains in Oyo state? how would the officer maintain an Hyundai when the sales and service center is not in the state? is buying an hillux not wiser in terms of carrying more personnel and criminals? ..[/quote] |

Nigerian governors don master this con game perfectly.. The first and easiest way to get attention and photo opportunity is to first borrow billions to buy and distribute police cars with cameramen and photographers including social media bloggers and errand boys when in fact it's a sign of zero vision per comprehensive security platform and infrastructures, just hand over cars, take pictures and that's it, no governing vision, no groundbreaking ideas or projects, no direction, just act as you go for 4 years. Sadly, the situation is the same all over Nigeria |

solmusdesigns: Oga Pls calm down, half bread is better than none. At least appreciate the development. Anyway, the car was meant for two men security personnel, the driver and his supposed partner as have witnessed today at different locations. The criminal/ suspect can at least be at the back or request for reinforcement if the need arises. Little by little we'll get there. Rome wasn't built in a day. 1 Like |
