johnkay1: I don't know why some of you are so lazy to research and are scared to accept the reality when it comes face to face with you. Please o, what is the meaning of the word YORUBA? Because you're here flaunting unnecessary English upandan. He's not denying the existence of the supposed "Yoruba" people, he's talking about the source of the word YORUBA. And from all studies so far, These same people have been found to migrate from the middle east and Egypt. What's your own story? 1 Like |

macIB: By the spread of the language beyong the bites of Nigeria into up to four nations, a pattern of migration is ascertained. So excuse me, did they migrate from Yoruba land to Yoruba land? When someone says study up, why not try? Instead of just condemning. |

T9ksy: you are quite right about this , because my father's generation inflicted an injury that Fulani's will never forget through out the history of Mankind and in the ages to come , we wiped out their political and military hierarchy with only 5 Majors , but has your generation or any of your father's generation done any revenge on fulanis? |

Tranquillity360: Try comedy, you'll do well. Meanwhile find out more about Odu and Iwa. The meaning of Oduduwa comes from that. His father had a known name which is not an Igbo name...find out more. As for Reno..I wish him luck in his line of interest. This tale leads nowhere really. |

Ctorch: All these sketches are born out of ignorance. The Yari.ba people were never natives of the present day Lagos, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ogun and Ekit. The original home of Yari.ba was about 30 miles north of Ilorin. A school thought had indicated Yari.ba people migrated from Burkina Faso. |

So was Bishop Ajayi Crowther captured by Fulani and taken all the way to lagos? Mr Reno claimed that Fulani captured Ajayi crowther from Oyo in 1821 meanwhile Fulani didn't get a foothold in Yoruba land until 1827 three years after Afonja was assasinated because Alimi refussed to be a political leader until his death three years after Afonja's own assassination. It was a Yoruba called Solagebru that supported Abdul the son of Alimi crown himself the first Emir (oba) of Ilorin emirate More importantly, it took years for the Oyo empire capital to be captured as it was the Fourth Emir Of ilorin, I believe Emir Shitta that raided the Oyo In fact, Fulani only started capturing Yorubas as slave in early 19th century Typing 1 Like |

PatriotTemidayo:You need to do the research Hausa has no meaning in the Hsusa language, it was used by Shongai empire to describe the Hausas as Southerners Yoruba had appeared long in the writings of an Islamic Scholar Amed Baba in the 14th century. He used it to describe people of the Oyo empire. Now to the orgin of the world; Yoruba has many orgin but the most logical is "Oyo oba". Amed and many non Yorubas might have used to group the Oyo people and corrupt the the Word to Yoruba around the 14th century. 2 Likes |

Here's Pharaoh Narmer (also known as Menes 1) - 3100 BC. He was the founder of Egypt and the first to unite the two lands, north and south, to form the Egyptian empire. I think he looks like OBJ. ............... |

Kapeter: The guy is from Bayelsa. He came up with this story as a diversion because of his inability to explain his unusual silence on the election in bayelsa. I'm not surprised though, wasn't this the same fellow that had to apologize to Toyin Saraki on a matter he would have gloated over if it had been say a Remi tinubu or Aisha 1 Like |

See how he tried hard to sound convincing. Too many "Google it", "read it up" give away the writer confused state of mind. Yoruba Edekiri Egypt Edo pyramid Hausa Igbo... The nonsense just doesn't add up. He used many words saying absolutely nothing. He even said Samuel Ajayi Crowther claimed he couldn't understand the language of the people who were the aborigine of the present day Oyo and Ogun. What nonsense! So, that Ajayi could not relate to the language of those people means the people spoke different language. Even the present day Oyo Yoruba must exert conscious effort before he can understand Ekiti, Okun, Ife and Ondo Yorubas. Yoruba like many other languages is a language of various dialects. Ekiti dialect may sound strange and unintelligible to an Oyo at first. But if he takes his time to listen and disect every word and syllable he will know the language is not a jot different from his. And that Yoruba was never in existence or a fabrication of the Fulani (or whosoever) is another junk. There has always been the term "Yoruba" only that it was only used in reference to the "Oyo" people and not an affiliation to all children of "kaaro oo jiire" as we have today. I simply think the man is educating with the sole purpose of misinforming us. 1 Like |
