Just about yesterday after speaking with my Class advicer, I was left in a depressed state.

I am currently on my 400level IT and I am to return back to school this coming new year by January. He told me about my result. He said my CGPA is the highest so far. Which makes me his best student. I asked him for the exact CGPA which he replied with with a *4.06*. My God I wondered why he was glad to break such a sad news to me. I thought I had chances of making it a 4.1+ the previous semester. I told him thanks. But I know I wasn't Happy sad

I did the maths...and I found out that the highest CGPA I can make is 4.2+ after my final year(2 semesters left) I feel terrible right now. How can I shift it to 4.3+ Cgpa? I have heard of students borrowing courses but I don't really know if this could be one of their reasons for doing such.

NB: I am not in anyway trying to make it look like having such a CGPA is bad or I am ungrateful. It's just that I have plans of applying for scholarships to study abroad but won't such a Gp hinder me?

Pls I need someone to placate me with motivational words. I feel like a looser. After all these years of studies! What if I loose the passion for school or studies after returning next year? I feel real bad sad sad

What if I might even loose the chance of being the best graduating student of my set like my class adviser had said
sad sad

two years from now you will realise there is more to life

than CGPA and As and Bs

if i dey lie, ask first class materials still finding their feet 10 years after undecided

better add value to yourself outside all these numbers

my elder bro made a first in 2005, as of 2012 he had to run from this country to look for a better life in canada

CGPA is a number
it wont determine your future

That's a good CGPA. You are qualified for almost every scholarship except where it's explicitly stated that only first class graduates should apply - which is a rarity. Aside academics, develop yourself with relevant, starting an enterprise, publications, attending conferences, work experience, be informed etc.

Trust me, you'd be alright.

P.S. Try to ensure you finish your final year with an almost perfect CGPA (5.0 in both semesters). It will be very important for assistantships and sponsorship for graduate studies. What's your major?

You need someone to placate you with motivational words.

Is your problem your depressed state or the fact that you might not meet the requirements for future scholarships and win best graduating student?

If it is the latter, what would placating you do?

Magically increase your GP?

I think you are trolling.

And if you are not, bend down, read your books and see if straight As in your remaining semesters would remedy the situation.

OP your goals are a little misguided. Aim to learn the most that you can instead of obsessing over the exact CGPA value you are getting. You will have a bright suture ahead of you and when you look back you will realize that the CGPA number was never really the prize while you were in school.

You are getting depressed for the wrong reason.

Your CGPA is meaningless; even if you graduate with 10.0. Nobody cares about it.

My advise to you is to focus on personal development and do away with your depression.
Don’t depend your life on a university validation that doesn’t even stand a chance on a world stage.

The Highest office in your country is occupied by a person with a poor WAEC certificate(affidavit).

You should be worried about what plans your have on developing an already broken society.

Please be guided!

Forward ever

I think the only solution here is to score A's in all your first and second semester result. Though it's hard, but it's possible.

If Wolves can beat Man city 2-0 in their home ground, then you can also score A's for the remaining courses left

Since you are depressed with CGPA of 4 .2 , here is sniper bottle to suppress your situation.

Eediot, ask yobo, basketmouth, don jazz etc about their grade in school, yet they great person in their chosen career. My brother, your success in life in not about your certificate, it's about your ability to drive yourself in the midst of all odd to the peak of your career. And I don't think you have such drive.what a pity!
Re: I Feel Depressed With A CGPA Of 4.2+ by AfroKnight: 8:45pm On Nov 24, 2019
Ithream grin it is not the end of the world.

The good thing is you can still get those scholarships with a 2:1 result.

Just keep going. Don’t lose your momentum now. Do your best and graduate in style. Don’t be afraid to apply to any school and for any scholarship you want.

The worst they can do is say no. So apply!
