Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have shot dead a driver and abducted 13 others at Sabon-Gari village, along Abuja-Lokoja road. A driver, Ibrahim, who narrowly escaped the attack, said the incident happened around 6:12pm yesterday when the gunmen suddenly emerged from the bush.

He said he was on his way driving from Abaji to Kwaita market when the gunmen in army uniform emerged from the bush and opened fire on vehicles. According to him, the driver of an unmarked Toyota Highlander jeep coming from Lokoja axis on sighting the gunmen, attempted to escape but one of the gunmen opened fire and killed him instantly. He said an 18-seater commercial bus coming from Abaji was also unlucky when the gunmen busted the bus tyres with bullets, before they asked passengers on board to disembark and whisked them away into the bush. The corpse of the jeep driver was still lying by the side of the road when our reporter visited the scene around 7pm.

There was heavy traffic around the scene as motorists coming from both directions stopped at the scene to have a glimpse look up the incident scene. When contacted, spokesman of the FCT police command, ASP Maryam Yusuf, said the command was yet get details of the incident.

I wonder why virtually all news about kidnaping must be Kogi ... but why include Abuja in the description, when we all know it actually happened in Kogi

The owner of the Highlander killed by the robbers is a pastor with redeemer Christian Church and a very close family friend. He was coming back from his brothers daughter wedding when he meet his untimely death. Have not been my self since yesterday. He was shots on his legs and bleed to death. May his soul rest in peace.

Imagine how it feels to be on a bus and its tires get shot

Those people kidnapped also have people that care for them, some may be the breadwinner of their families, but how do one know the real officers and the fake ones?


Instead of channelling billions into the entertainment industries according to Lai. M, why not strengthen and recruit more people into NPF?

Security should be the first before another things to be done.

The FG should provide them with advanced weapons and not those obsolete ones.

Security patrol vehicles, bullet proof vest, binoculars, drones to monitor positions of robbers on the high way, and many more.

Imagine again, lets say there are 12 security patrol vehicles roaming Benin to Ore with highly armed officers, there is no way a robbery would take place since security vans keeps patrolling the road.


Lets also assume this extends to other high ways, the rate of robbery would reduce and people will be safe travelling on roads.


I am just gonna give this administration 0.5 / 10 in terms of security.

What other evidence do we need to see that Buhari is a failure?
