It is a shame that Nigeria has become an illiterate country. First it was border closures when they are 2000 in Legal borders between Nigeria and other west African countries. Now is social media bill when most of the servers and web host are not even in Nigeria most of the Nigerian website have their host outside the Country I wonder how this social media bill is going to work. Is the government going to take the web host and savers which are out of the country to Court

It is really a pity, with the weighty impact of this bill if passed i was expecting to see a large turn out of protesters at that venue and not 26 persons carrying placards and posing for pictures to be posted on social media. embarassed embarassed embarassed

Seun.

You've not said anything about this bill and have not shown any mobilization (overtly at least) to help stop this nonsense.

I hope you know you are one of the prime targets of the bill? Forget if you support APC or not. Ask Sowore.

wow! impressive

Imagine 26 million Nigerians rounding Aso rock, shouting, "Fulfil your campaign promises or else we will come, there kick you out and start a revolution"

Sense would tell you it is 26 million Nigerians vs about 2 thousand security men guarding Aso rock.

Who would win??

Do you think they will shoot?

It is very easy to transform this country in 6 months only if we all come together in unity and speak with one voice.

We can't vote them to control us, but for they "politicians " to agree to our request

Even Buhari and his Abba. K would shake.

The Boldened...

That's where the problem lies!
You see, Nigeria is a hodge-nodge of interests and that has been the weapon in the hands of the political class! We hardly can speak with one voice because we have different interests!

"If we can come together... " remain a conditional clause given to an eternal Utopia, because the "coming together" this time will be perceived by the Hausa/Fulani and Muslims as a deliberate attempt to pull down 'their own' before his time expires - notwithstanding the hardships around, the veil of ethnicity and religious bigotry has continued to blind us...

And guess what? They (the politicians) keep winning!

If you have read the bill many times as you claimed, and it did not touch your conscience that the penalty for hate speech is death sentence, yet the politicians that looted our common patrimony with recless abandon will be given a tap on the wrist for looting, sometimes even rewarded with political appointments, then you are not human.

Can't someone just send a missile into the national assembly killing those useless good-for-nothing senators at once, then another into aso rock killing dictator buhari and everyone around him. And one to that annoying BBQ guy and his entire family for supporting this kind of government. God I'll be so happy.

What are you doing in the comfort of your room there? Can't you send the missiles from there

In 1994 perhaps the worst genocide Africa has ever known was committed in Rwanda where over 800,000 people out of a population of just over 7,000,000 were killed. It was caused by hate speech.

Between 1939 and 1945 over seventy million people were killed during world war 2, a war which is often described as the deadliest conflict in human history. It was caused by the hatred spewed by Hitler and his goons.

Hate speech is not and can never be free speech. We really need to be very careful with out utterances as Nigeria and Africa in general can not survive another Nigerian civil war.

Dumb ipob fake news and hate speech idiotss, if you don't peddle fake news and hate speech, why are you scared and worried.?

They have hate speech laws and legislation in advanced democracies to deal with lawless and unruly hate speech and fake news peddlers and heaven did not fall so what's the big deal?

Fake news and hate speech is getting out of hand in Nigeria and something must be done urgently.
