Where did I under rate the gaming industry? I don't know why you guys don't like hearing the factual truth.

If the gaming industry was that huge to shake the movie industry/big screen, why did movies like Warcraft and Pokemon have extremely poor performances at the box office despite their huge world wide gaming popularity?

Warcraft and Pokemon are among the highest grossing video game franchises of all time, yet the gamers couldn't do enough for it to be a massive hit at the BO. Why is this so?

Doesn't it buttress my point that they need popular movie celebrities to attract other audiences (especially non gamers) and make it sell? Henry's presence has attracted a lot of interest in the Witchers series, that's a fact.
first, HC doesn't have that much of fans. Those u see are mainly superman fans and many wouldn't give a crap abt Witcher just becos s0me guy who played superman is in it. Witcher again, is a bo0k series with its own fand0m like harry potter or GOT. Then it was adaptd into a game, which again has its own fand0m. So we are talking abt an all round media outlet here. My point is, Cavill's involvement does little to change a dime cos Witcher prior to n0w already has a fanbase. We are just hearing of it n0w because we d0n't read literature or play games aside soccer or grand theft. But i've kn0wn abt Witcher b4 n0w, that was when IMDB hadn't taken away their message boards. There, i saw folks craving for its m0vie/tv series adaptati0n due to the success and popularity of GOT, legend of the seeker and merlin. HC doesn't have that much of a fan following to be honest. And pers0nally, n0t that am criticizing him, he aint that great an actor. Gal gadot is a better actor than he is. That's my Opini0n though.

Warcraft and Detective Pikachu (I assume that's the Pokemon movie you're talking about) made triple their budgets. So I don't understand the extremely poor box office performance you're talking about. Warcraft featured Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Paula Patton (Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol) and Dominic Cooper (Preacher). Detective Pikachu featured Ryan Reynolds as the voice of Pikachu. Are these celebrities not popular enough for you?

On the point of Cavill attracting a lot of interest to the series, I'm yet to see any reactions from any new audience. Basically every platform I've been on, it's still gamers and readers talking about the show. Abi, are the Cavill fans in ghost mode?

seriously, HC doesn't have that much fans. I kn0w many of us here d0n't kn0w he has starred in 2 films aside missi0n impossible since after bvs and Jl. 0ne army relatd film and 0ne psychological drama. Cavill's fans are m0stly those who just love him as superman. You can't c0mpare him to guys like ryan reyn0lds or j0nah hill. But witcher would change that tho cos he'll reach an0ther platform of audiences.

Warcraft made loss for the studio if you don't know....same for Pikachu.

As for the names you mentioned, none of them can draw crowd at the BO. Even Ryan Reynold is not much of a BO crowd puller with the exception of Deadpool.

Someone just stated here that he didn't know of Witcher until Cavill was involved.

We can do a survey on the Series/movies thread if you want to know how many people was interested in the Witcher when they found out that Henry Cavill was involved.

Pikachu performed below expectations. The studio didn't report a loss.

Ryan Reynolds is not a BO crowd puller? But Cavill is the person that is giving The Witcher series relevance? And yet you accuse people of making senseless arguments. Do you know how much of joke this your statement sounds now?

Someone just stated here that he didn't know of Witcher until Cavill was involved.
Like Minemrys said, yes, Cavill will probably draw the attention of a few DC/Superman fans. Ask Pu7pl3 if he actually plans to watch the series?

On Nairaland? I laugh. Go to the Marvel thread and check how many people actually know or have any interest in the Shang Chi movie? The series thread with people who can't stop whining about how they don't understand the Watchmen show? Abeg, lemme concede defeat here and dead this issue.

You don't need a soothe sayer to let you know if it made a loss. If you know how to calculate using the production and Marketing Budget, then you will know it made a loss.

It is really pitiful that you even think ryan reynold is a BO crowd puller outside deadpool. Its also unfortunate that you have joined the bandwagon in making senseless arguments.

I have attached an image from Forbes stating clearly that Ryan Reynolds isnt a BO crowd puller. Unless you wan't to tell us that you now know more than Forbes?

What the exactly is your point set?? Warcraft and pokemon were both successful. Just for your information Pokemon is currently the highest grossing video game of all time surpassing Warcraft. So what's your point again?

The latest watchmen episode is so good and intriguing.

So many dark secrets that the US government did and hid.

It also exposes how the media misinterpretes a lot of things by giving accolades to those that don't because of media bias.

If you ain't watching this series, better do so now.
I really enjoyed the noir setting, the acting, pacing, shots and choreography were all on point...this show is really dope I don't want it to finish cry

Did you see that action comic superman reference? Oh and that shot of Reeves flying out of the window and pausing was one of the dopest shots ever

That slow mo scene was the best.

I never thought her grand dad was the hooded justice.. I love how they made us realize that there is a lot of misinformation from the media, a lot of hidden secrets swept under the rug. Especially, the white dude that burnt a store and got away with it just because a bad cop arrested him.

All these happened in real life back then.

The most intriguing part is that brainwashing of black folks using hypnosis from the projector to attack and kill each other at the cinemas. shocked

Yea...those white folks really go to extreme lengths and to think that he used the same method to kill that police chief felt like poetic justice to me...

Another part that stood out for me was when he lost it and shot everyone in that warehouse and burnt them all...it's just sad that superheroes can't just have a happy family(his wife was selfish and weak for leaving him if you ask me)

They made up to times 3 of their budgets how did they flop? Especially Warcraft

Regards Henry Cavill, I'm not saying he will not bring in more fans but it will not be as crazy as you think. Even the movie MoS was a flop and it was about Superman(Your Henry Cavil undecided). Where were superman fans?

That scene where he lost his shiit at the warehouse was the best. The rage was let loose.

Imaging entering a room and seeing someone using hypnosis on your race and telling them to hate and kill themselves.

Infact, after watching that scene, i had a feeling that the whites are still involved in the massive sufferings blacks and Africans are going through.

The series is a shocking revelation

I hope you know that MoS still brought over a $42m profit to the studio right, despite the disappointment? Also, the media was against Synder hence it could have made far more if not for the media bias and backlash

A movie that faced the biggest backlash of 2013 still made profit, but Warcraft that is among the highest grossing video game of all time couldnt do jack at the BO. Where were the gamers to help this movie then? I don't recall any huge media backlash against the film back then.

You have no point of argument oga, just let it rest.

Infact eh, after watching the recent episode, i remembered that Tulsa incidence in Episode 1 where whites went on killing spree because the blacks were successful. It is obvious they didnt want the blacks to succeed. The case might still be happening now, but on a coded levels. Who knows?

Very deep coded message is been passed in the Watchmen tv show
