Please, anyone knows the process as well as the qualifications needed to become a Justice of Peace in Nigeria?

Any other information you think is relevant the question is welcomed.

Thanks.

Just travel to Jerusalem. You are officially a JP. Just like anybody that travels to Mecca becomes an Alhaja or Alhaji. Double your hustle and travel to Jerusalem QED. My opinion though

Not sure if this is meant to be a joke, but it's an epic fail if that's your intension.

I do not think it's wise to post a comment just for the sake of posting something.

JP justice of peace is for judges in the legal profession any one using JP and is not a judge is a lie and it's illegal it can be likened to impersonation.

My father was a Justice of the Peace and close friend of the late commisioncom for Justice in Rivers State.

Recruition is selectively available for individuals that have attained a particular height of social esteem.

Ministry for Justice appoints you from the department you work in —either local, state of Federal. They swear you in along with other members.

You can't just walk into the ministry of Justice office building and say I want to be a Justice of the Peace.

Last I checked, they recently appointed seven Local chiefs from a particular local government here in Port Harcourt.

This is a very misleading information.
It is quite false!!

My father was never a judge or legal personnel.

Just so you know, several times I've followed him to the commissioner of Justices' office in the State Secretariat complex building.

I was good friends/mentee with/of the man too and treading on the path to be a Justice someday.

Get your facts right.

Are you not hearing that I literally sleep in the midst of Justice of the Peace during their meetings

You don't sound woke at all. I'm not giving you the benefit of my attention.

Use your Google.

Whatever just leave it, don't quote me again.

And because you sleep at the midst of people who parade themselves as Justice of peace invalidates my point this is not a dick waving contest boy, it's only in states like yours anyone can call themselves anything as long as there's money.

Calm down bro.
The guy is right.
Although I'm a lawyer myself, I know it's by appointment and you don't necessarily need a lawyer background to become one.

My main aim is to know if I meet the qualifications as regards to age and social status.

You are right, I know it's by appointment and many factors are considered before the appointment.
However, this is Nigeria where everything is going by the rules. You know what I mean...

Do you think a fellow in early 30s could be appointed?
A pastor, lawyer, well behaved and respected & regarded in his community. Also married with kids and fairly well economically... Do you think such a one has a chance?

Thanks.

Quite on the spot. Regarded by who exactly? That's the problem.

If they started appointing any and everybody that matches this description you would agree with me that half the people in the world would fit and the title would hold no certified dignity any longer.

If you want to be a Justice of the Peace, I advice you, start with a political party —preferably a ruling one. Sponsor elections and minor programs, give lecture notes to general public if you're an Academian (especially in places where members alike can spot you)

Visit the state ministry of Justice in your respective state. Start up a peace course. Become a member of the Rotary Peace Corps.

When you graduate, on your passing out day, you would be appointed a Justice of the Peace.

The graduation uniform is just like a military uniform, it's white and there's a wire belt that goes through the shoulders to under the arms, a tarmac and a white beret.

Goodluck!

We have two JP's. Justice of the Peace and Jerusalem Pilgrim. You're made Justice of the Peace by the relevant authorities while you become a Jerusalem Pilgrim when you visit Jerusalem for pilgrimage.
