I am creating this topic because i don't have 150k to borrow someone to settle Customs officers along the Benin- ore Highway.
Long story short, a childhood friend of mine recently acquired a 2010 Toyota Corrolla imported from the States. Given that we both are from the same state of origin, it was decided that we are going to travel back to the east, along with other friends of ours, in his newly acquired car this forthcoming 25th of December.
Yesterday, we were at a bar and i inquired from him the total amount he spend on getting the car cos i would like to get one too. He told me it cost him around 2.1 million to get the car. Initially, i assumed that excluded custom and clearing duties but alas he said it was inclusive of both. He said it cost him about 550k to clear the car and paid his clearing agent around 100k. I had my reservations and i called his attention to it but he wasn't swayed.
I cudnt get that off my mind, is it possible to clear a 2010 Toyota Corrolla with just 550k? I dont know if he's lying or just ignorant but he seemed confident that everything was properly done not stating that this is actually the 1st time he is importing a car. Please gurus in the house, what's your take? Your responses will help me better sway him or clear my doubts. Thanks

I dnt know of the total cost but I think 250k clearance cost may not be far fetched if he knows his way.
