Alright.

And when foreign companies couldn't get dollars , the next thing was lay-offs right ?

Yes, they couldn't run their businesses. Not just foreign-owned companies.

In your own view , how would history have played out if Buhari devalued the naira back then ?

I think you may be write that buhari worsened the recession because back then in the 80s , even after the oil glut , we had a recession when buhari was in power and when ibb kicked buhari out and implemented the structural adjustment program , the economy began to grow by 5 percent from 1986 - 1992. Impressive !!!

Apart from the shady promises made by buhari and his pastor cohort, Do we all remember that buhari wore clean blazer suits during his campaign?? Now he has reverted back to the man he truly is..do we all agree as nigerians that we were scammed immensely ?? grin grin

He even wore Igbo attire in one of his pictures.

I dont think buhari was responsible for the recession. The recession was primarily caused by low oil prices.

That's true

The recession would not have been so severe. It may only be a downturn and the economy would have revived quite quickly.

However, I think for the economy to hit 5% or 6% annual growth rate without high oil prices may be hard. Some structural reforms would have been needed.
