We live in a culture of labels. Whether or not we like it we are all instantly judged on how we look, act, live, who we love, where we worship (or don’t), our jobs, where we live, how we parent, our health, and so on. You name it, and someone has been judged because of it. It’s really the way the world has always been. As far back as anyone can remember people have been judged. Although, some would say the world is a harsher place with labeling than perhaps it has ever been. The invention of social media has given people free rein to more or less do and say whatever they want. Some people completely lose their manners and rules of etiquette and kindness are often thrown right out the window online. Women in particular are subject to these kinds of comments. Like others, we are judged and labeled on everything we do or say. We are given these labels by men, and sometimes even by our fellow woman. Here are some labels that we need to stop giving to women: 1 – Bitchy This one is used perhaps more than any other towards women. We’re labeled a bitch for even the smallest of behaviors – stating our opinion, objecting to something we don’t agree with, not saying hello to someone, etc. It’s overused and unnecessary! It should be okay for a woman to use her voice to express herself without fear of being labeled a bitch. Assertiveness, confidence and bluntness are all qualities that some women have that can get her labeled as a bitch. When in reality, these are all great qualities to have. Women should be able to be a little bit snarky or just need to vent a little without someone making a nasty remark on her behavior or persona Read more: https://www.virtuedigest.com/5-labels-we-need-to-top-giving-women/ |

Nobody needs to stop anything, it's called having opinions and feelings towards certain things like traits/characters. Better for the "victims" to develop a thicker skin and just let everyone else be. When we were busy calling Buhari names like Bubu, cattle herder, jubril, even spreading click-bait news, and the sort...and they decided to sign a hate-speech bill to put a handle on it, we are the ones who still cried foul because we have freedom of expression and we should be able to express how we feel. So what is the difference here? Or is it the idea that some people deserve to be called names while some other group of people are just too special to be called any names? ![]() Raw-bish. |

Funny thread. Like men also do not get labels. If been called bitchy for instance gets to you, review your behaviour and change. If you don't care, dust it off and move on. I wonder why you want to legislate people's opinions of you. |

Another day, another complaint about sexism. I pity men who take women's complaints seriously and try to change to make them happy |

bukatyne:So because men get labels means it is right and shouldn't be condemned? Do you think people they call bitchy is actually a bitch? If someone comes to your face and say all manner of insultive, degrading words to you and your personality, which is not true, in the presence of people, would you shrug it off as if it's nothing? Knowing the people who witnessed the scene will have a bad impression of you since you didn't defend yourself? What if this people, may one day become someone that can influence a job/opportunity/contract/life changing situation, but because of what they witnessed and heard of you, who was present but refuse to defend yourself, do you think all I mentioned will be given to you? Do you know there are top people in this country and the world who are here on nairaland? Do you know how many people must have lost opportunities because they didn't correct a negative impression or tale said about them here? If everyone decides to ignore most things being said about them here and in real life, the world will be in chaos, that is why people are being sued for slander and false accusations, I do not know why you really try to be politically correct here, you do not need validation from anyone but do not try to bring down an opinion of your gender because you want to be seen as neutral or woke, look at one above being petty on something that is wrong, SMH!!! I will not in anyway ignore any slander against my person or personality, here or in reality, I will not ignore, that is an indirect encouragement to say more, I will do my very best to correct the rubbish, enough said. |

This is a good thread Op, thanks for speaking against the negative labeling some women unfairly face in their daily lives. If men don't like the topic they can start their own topic and speak against negative labels men get. |

crackhaus:My comment hurts that's why you can't quote me? I know opinions can be brutal at times, reason why you had to indirectly reply me, so go back to your previous comment and eat your words dude and stop being hypocritical, people's negative opinions affects you and it's okay, we are humans not robots, and I love you too regardless. |

Really? She tried to be a bigger person by using that phrase and also prove to you that opinions matter, but this is what you could come up with, SMH!!! This is how to differentiate the manboys from the sane ones, and sadly, you 100% fit the former. |
