Bro, I think this is an unfair comment.

It has gone north-west, south-east, south-west, south-south (Saro-Wiwa and co). When would the black race wake up? Is it until this oppression goes full cycle and we become so powerless that we become afraid to breath?

The America we talk about today fought for their freedom, the Algerians fought and kicked out the French oppressors, the French citizens fought and dethroned their monarchy, the Argentines, Lithuanians, Latvians, etc fought for their independence; even the Israelites fought and kicked out the Arabs.

Nigeria is the hope of the black race everywhere! We need to get it right and become a melting pot for blacks all over the world. Many Africans look up to us; go to a gathering of citizens of African countries, Nigeria is mostly the subject of discussion. Ordinary border closure, the economies of some countries are almost bleeding. We are grateful to God for his mercies upon us, but He has given us brains to manage our affairs. When he gave Adam leadership of the Garden of Eden, He was not dictating to Adam how to run it. He entrusted Adam with a brain and was convinced that Adam would not mismanage the garden until... well, you know the rest. Let us use our brains to glorify God.

Let us wake up. Politicians of yore cannot dictate how we should live and what we must accept. We should be able to disarm DSS operatives and set up a blockade and prevent them from taking Sowore away. What happened to Sowore, if it happened to Muhammadu Buhari as an ordinary citizen in a high court in Kano or Bauchi or Sokoto...

I hope you are consistently making millions or even billions from Buhari's government. Otherwise you'd be the biggest fool on Nairaland. An old fool would just trade his brain for a mess of porridge and yet think everything is going great.

While we appreciate Mr Falana's doggedness in fighting for rule of law and sanctity of the Courts,we should not allow our emotions to run contrary to know where the blames should be.
Is Oshinbajo the controller of DSS,Efcc,Sss,etc.?,do they reports to him?
Do V. President appointed any Security Chiefs and do they reports to him?
Who appointed Chief Of Staff,he also a Lawyer?.

This is an incredibly foolish and provocative submission. If you don't know what Osibanjo ought to do to show that he at least disapproves of this lawlessness, then the joke is on you. It's just disgusting how some of you come online to disgrace yourselves.

DSS made one gaffe under Osinbajo as acting President and immediately Lawal Daura was sacked.

Now, VP is VP. Not President, not acting President.

Don't be unfortunate to insult him because it shows your level of ignorance and stupidity.

This is a very faulty line of reasoning.

Sowore has always been at the forefront of fighting the government of the day for corruption. He fought IBB during the June 12 saga. He protested against Abacha before his death. He fought Obasanjo severally, same with Yaradua. To now isolate his protest against Jonathan alone borders on insensitivity.

Please, this is for you and your ilks especially the Igbo kids on this politics section who said he was among those who removed Jonathan and so deserves whatever judgement meted on him. That's just trying to be clever by half.

I remain adamant that Falana is a very useless man ..like the typical coward he is instead of blaming Buhari who is responsible for all this he has instead chosen a softer target in the person of Osinbanjo . Why is Falana always scared of mentioning Buharis name ? Under Jonathan did you ever here Falana blame the VP Sambo? Hell no they always blame Jonathan even for problems caused by governors because they saw Jonathan as a soft target .. Falana leave Osinbanjo out of this he has tried his best , Osinbanjo is yet to recover from the last time he interfered and sacked the DSS boss andBuhari has been silently punishing him since then ..

I agree. Falana is a very useless man. He sold out for a shekel of silver and betrayed the cause, since then he has been talking from both sides of the mouth like a true idiot.

Of course he has been compromised by Buhari and the cabal... He was embroiled in the shameless lobbying and politicking for the post of Attorney General, which he was ultimately not given. So dem don see am finish. They have dirt on him. Very useless man that SHALL NEVER fit into the big shoes of the late, great Gani Fawehinmi.

Ade Adesomoju, Abuja

Human rights lawyer, Mr Femi Falana (SAN), who leads Mr Omoyele Sowore’s defence team, has asked the Nigerian Bar Association to take disciplinary actions against lawyers in President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet over what he described as desecration of the court with Sowore’s rearrest at the Federal High Court in Abuja, causing a disruption of court proceedings.

He said his legal team would meet on Saturday to determine the next line of action.

He said there were 10 lawyers with four of them Senior Advocates of Nigeria, who ought to live up to their oath to defend the Constitution and other laws of the country, by ensuring that the rule of law was observed by the government.

The SANs in the cabinet are Vice President Yemi Osinbajon (SAN), Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami; Minister of State for Labour, Mr Festus Keyamo; and Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola.

He said, “Even though President Muhammadu Buhari has a duty to caution the Department of State Services, the blame of the desecration of the court today (Friday) rests squarely on lawyers in government, who are under a duty to ensure that the rule of law is observed.

He said, “Even though President Muhammadu Buhari has a duty to caution the Department of State Services, the blame of the desecration of the court today (Friday) rests squarely on lawyers in government, who are under a duty to ensure that the rule of law is observed.

“They have all taken the oath to respect the Constitution and other laws of the country. That Constitution guarantees the independence and impartiality of the courts.

“They therefore cannot sit in a cabinet under a regime that terrorises the courts and subverts the rule of law.

“It is a matter the Nigerian Bar Association should take up against the lawyers in the cabinet by instituting disciplinary proceedings against them.”

Faulting the arrest of his client, he described it as contemptuous.

He also noted that it was not backed by any arrest warrant or detention order of court.

He said, “There is no warrant of arrest, there is no detention order. What the DSS did today was the height of contempt of court.

“Nobody is above the law. You either abolish the courts or allow them to function effectively.

“This is a situation where the DSS operatives invaded the court and forced the judge to adjourn proceedings; they chased the judge out of her court, disrupted the proceedings and forced the judge to adjourn all cases.

“These are manifestations of fascism, which cannot be accepted in any civilised society. This has never happened in Nigeria where you take over a court forcefully in order to arrest an unarmed citizen.

“You remember that it was the illegal invasion of the National Assembly by masked DSS men that led to the dismissal of the former DG, DSS, by this government.

“So for the same barbaric conduct to occur again is unacceptable. This is a regime that parades 10 senior lawyers, including four Senior Advocates of Nigeria.”

Asked if he had been informed of any reason why his client was rearrested or whether he was going to be freshly, he said “no”

That's why the blackman can NEVER be like the whiteman...we don't have the same kinda brain.

Many people have resigned from the Trump administration because of clash of interests.

In Nigeria, resignation is a taboo.

Since 1999, the only minister who has willingly resigned from her job because she has a different view from that of her boss is Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. I have never seen another.

We need to change our mentality in this country.

The Blessed Dora Akunyili too. Even as Minister of Information, she looked the Cabal in the eyes, damned the consequences, condemned the shenanigans going on, and supported the transfer of power to the then VP as the law demanded. Of course she would have been sacked and was ready, had Goodluck not eventually been declared acting president.

People like NOI and Dora are an extinct breed in our polity, so it seems. These are prime examples of PRINCIPLED PEOPLE. Not this very useless fake pastor Osibanjo that would form Mr Clean, yet lacks any principles whatsoever. It is too annoying, and I spit on him.

My brother, I understand your view. But what about our children's future, what about the future of our not-so privileged neighbours' children?

Some are running to Canada, United States, Europe, and countries that fought for what they enjoy today. What about those who do not have the means to go? Why can't we fight to enforce the things we are running to other countries to enjoy? While it is good to focus on our jobs and our lives, let us also remember that when those around us are hungry, they might take out their frustration on us. We are not safe even when we think we are.

I am not in Nigeria for two years now, but my heart is with Nigeria every day, and I follow news every hour. If we don't fix it, who'd do it for us? Let us take back our country, let us own it, let us decide how we want it run.

No. This is not the solution.

We, Nigerians, are the solution.

If Nigerians are aware of their rights, by now, Nigeria would be on fire because of this. The streets of Abuja would have been flooded with protesters because our collective rights have been raped by those we entrust to protect us. No chief of army staff or police boss would quell legitimate protests or kill protesters if the number is overwhelming. It is also an international crime. Buhari would have been forced to fire the DSS boss, like Osinbajo did when our national assembly was desecrated by the DSS. He would have been forced to address the nation and plead for calm.

Until Nigerians get fed up and enforce their rights, this nonsense would continue to play out. Freedom and liberation from oppression comes with a price. We either chose to pay it or we chose to accept the norm. It is Sowore today, who might it be tomorrow?

it can't be done cuz naija ain't one country...

if it's the Igbos that are protesting , the rest of the nation will call them slaves and hateful people, call them enemies of the state.. call them sore losers /coup plotters...

if it's the Yorubas, the rest of the nation will call them cowards, chest beaters... fear fear tribe... north will say they want buhari dead so that their son will take over....

since we r not United, how then can we protest

I remain adamant that Falana is a very useless man ..like the typical coward he is instead of blaming Buhari who is responsible for all this he has instead chosen a softer target in the person of Osinbanjo.
Falana has been shouting Buharis name, and blaming him for all that's been going for months now. It's not his fault that you chose to close your eyes and stuff your ears with cotton wool to not notice his words.
