Op am really impress, if 1911 village has all these sophisticated infrastructure and equipment as at then truly we are really behind, no wonder a spaniard told me with respect that when he visited apapa port last year it was as like watching a documentary of european ports in the early 1900"s.
shame catch me.

@op is the village meant for only tourists or it's a village where people live their day to day lives

Some still live in the houses but mainly it is a tourist attraction.

Nice pictures Op...

Like you said earlier, the place was clean and dust-free. All I can say is this:- The Americans preserved their heritage. It would be a thing of joy for a Grandfather to show his Grandchildren (the indomie generation) where he lived alongside his Father's father with their names engraved on the ground. I know if "Yester Years" were to be a Nigerian village, you'd be seeing modern houses in every street. Old ones bulldozed and posh structures erected. Development or modernization is good but some things should be kept to serve as a point of reference when teaching our children how and where their forefathers lived, and for tourism purpose too.

My village in Abia state is gradually becoming a city. Coman see jaw dropping structures, the kind of houses that are built on the Island in Lagos. The competition is fierce. Someone would build a big house, his neighbor would build a beautiful one, on seeing it the former would partially destroy his own and renovate. For village ooo.

I heard Jos, Kogi, Bauchi, Cross river etc used to be among the top states to visit for tourism in those days. Along the line terrorists, bandits and others came and gave the country a bad name. The level of insecurity rose over the years. Tourism is almost dead. Who would want to visit an unsafe country?! Even if the West, South and East are somehow safe, it wont take the bad boys much time to attack em.. Na God dey save person. Insecurity and poor maintenance of tourist attractions has crippled our tourism industry.

Finally Op this is July 11, howfar na... You never re-visit Yester Years?? grin grin grin Abi this corona still dey hot for that end??

Hi guys, i hope everyone is doing good and gearing for the holidays. I had a pretty rough week so i decided to go with my madam to go some sight-seeing and feed/feast my eyes. We threw lots and the village of yester years was what the gods wanted cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy
It was a pretty quick drive even though Minnesota cold was cry cry cry cry . It was a 20 minutes drive not helped with the folks shopping for hols.

The Village of yester-years as the Americans call it, is a setting of a basically a village of what and how the Americans lived during the 1700s to late 1900s. It consist of some houses,a general store, a post office, church, a train, a fire department, the baker's shop. To say i was amazed was an understatement because every house and items are/were still preserved. The village is opened from May 1 to September 30 for Tourists smiley smiley smiley(Nigeria needs lessons in this dept).

There is a pavement or walk path, it has all the names of everyone that has lived in the village and their names are etched or carved on a wooden path(e bust my brain shocked shocked shocked shocked). Dont let me bore you guys. Let me samayan you some pictures.

^^^AWESOME history and I feel like I'm right there now!grin Thanks for the post. All the best. P.S. Just a quick one: "Yesteryear" without the letter "S" is the correct English grammatical spelling. You may wish to edit your post.
