Good evening here.
Pertinent to the topic, please I need anyone who knows how to go about the question below to help me with the working and answer:
"Some students added 4g of NaOH to 100ml of water in a practical class using a calorimeter for the experiment. After the addition, the temperature of the solution rose by 20°C and the specific heat capacity of water is 4.18kj/g/°C. Determine the molar enthalpy of solution"
I shall be appreciative embarassed

4g of NaOH to 100ml of water---convert to mol/dm3

NaOH=40g/mol

100ml=0.1dm3

4 divided by 40 times 0.1=0.01mol/dm3

Molar enthalpy of solution =Molarity X specific heat capacity X change in temperature=0.01 X 4.18 X 20

Mind the units
