In as much as vigilance and ventilation are needed to keep our democracy alive, the simple truth is that the real situation is very far from the picture Punch Newspaper is painting. There is freedom of speech in Nigeria and on daily basis tens of anti-government and extremely anti-Buhari articles get published in both print and online media. If there wasn't, staunch critics like Femi Fani Kayode with all his misleading, mischievous and insulting posts would have been in jail.

Unfortunately, DSS personnel got carried away in their bid to tame the defiant Yele Sowore that they tactlessly played into his original intention of making himself a hero of democracy by that act of gangsterism in court premises. Now, the enemies of government including displaced and embittered PDP moneybags have subtly moved into action to discredit Buhari's administration in both local and international media. To counter this dangerous development, I think government should reach out to critical civil society stakeholders to restate its commitments to democratic principles.

However, one thing is certain, because Buhari's presidency is very NECESSARY for the INEVITABLE disruptions of the existing political and economic orders that will make way for new orders, it will survive this onslaught like the ones that came in the past.
Bravo ! Nice write up .The presidency should then question DSS boss and sack him if necessary if our intelligence agency could "fall" into traps like that. Our judicial arm must also be independent

The issue is not about weakness or strength, the major issue is about buhari's bias, nepotism, arrogance etc,if buhari has been sincere n fair in his actions there wouldn't be so much outcry in the country today, it's as simple as that.

Change that existing political and economic disorder. There is no word like order in the lives of Nigerians based in Nigeria, from the topmost public officials to the common man on the street. In fact, what's going on in Nigeria is a battle between god of order and the god of chaos. Most Nigerians are worshippers of god of chaos without knowing. Others do it knowingly. Until the god of order wins this battle, there will no progress in Nigeria. Do Nigerians even know or appreciate the fact that the God they falsely claim they worship has an attribute of Order. Our people can't just be acting like a mass of captured electron exposed to heat. That's pure madness.

I just hope Ndigbo and indeed the Old Eastern Nigeria, stay out of the fight between two lovers.

They will sort themselves out. Punch is the hand of Esau but the voice of Jacob. Tinubu is simply speaking through The Punch. The Ruling Regime are aware.

Others should stay clear while they sort themselves out.
According the ancient Greeks, founder of democracy, and modern day sociologists, there are always three groups of people in a given society. These are:
1. The Idiots (greedy, self-centered, barbarian).
2. The Tribalists (narrow-minded, violent).
3. The Citizens (the ideal individual).

Look at these three groups and put yourself and Buhari in one or two of the groups. Then tell me if a society that consist of people of your type can create an orderly, just, and thriving society.

And make sure you watch this video.

I know so many fellow Igbos like you, sir. Forgive me for being this blunt, but I have to tell you that your comment is so cowardly. The autocracy being perpetuated by this evil regime, do you think it will leave out Ndígbo? Not too long ago, they sent "Python Dance" to come terrorise us in our homes, in the very lands Chukwu Abiama gave to us. Now here is a Newspaper house bold enough to join it's voice to what we have been crying out against, and your best reaction is "Easterns stay out"?

I don't know about you, sir, but my own forefathers did not leave behind a legacy of cowardliness. I will join whoever will join with me to speak out against this evil regime of Maj. Gen Mohammed Buhari rtd.

LOL. Funny fellow. Forgive me for calling you out: you are clearly not Igbo. Nigerians, not even Igbos, can see through it. You think we can't?

And any wise Igbo man would know it is wise to leave the current regime and one of its enablers -Punch Nigeria and Tinubu speaking through them- to sort themselves out. As my mentor Achebe once said, "when two brothers fight, a stranger reaps the harvest".
We shall let these two brothers fight and we shall watch.

Where was Punch when Python Dance was happening? Or it forgot how to write editorials, abi? grin
Funny fellow.

Nothing special, in their usual wild, untamed, untidy manner, they tactfully or tactlessly did as is normal for them. Why should a mad man be ashamed of being naked?
People see these so-called security guys as going about their duties like some thugs/area boys, and they go all out to prove their critics aren't wrong either. Shameful!
