Simplyleo: The PMB led federal govt you support 24/7 on NL, is following through' with the intergovernmental nuclear agreement with Russia, with Geregu in Kogi and ITU in Akwa Ibom earmarked for project phase executions. DO channel your energies towards your paymasters and party, since they decide for the rest of us. |

They don't know what they are doing at all, they have not studied the adverse effects of using nuclear power, they should compel FG to use solar energy instead. |

NUCLEAR POWER PLANT CAN DESTROY THE WHOLE NIGERIA IN 5 MINS,,,,, IS NOT THE BEST OPTION FOR A COUNTRY LIKE NIGERIA THAT LACKS MAINTENANCE CULTURE. A KILOGRAM OF RADON CAN POWER THE WHOLE NIGERIA BUT MISHANDLING IS CATASTROPHIC. |

U lot will jst come online and type shyte,Nuclear Plant,Gas plant and coal plant all work with same principles heat, fuel source different. you are here chatting bout stuff you learnt from your Physics class in school, Name one radioactive substance that emits X-Ray |

Re: Nigerian Senate Makes Case For Nuclear Energy by mrphysics(m): 6:07pm On Dec 12, 2019 |
Simplyleo: In your bid to sound intelligent, you showed little knowledge of Nigerian power system. It costs about $10m to build 1000MW of Nuclear power plant. Now, calculate how many billions you have spent or spend every year without achieving any success. One thing about Nuclear power plant is that it is built with care, not by ignorant people. It is build to sustain itself and short down. The only risk risk of a NPP is natural disaster, aside that, it's safer than the Villa. Now, do you the difference between nuclear weapon and nuclear power plants? |

erico2k2: There is a research reactor in ABU Zaria. It worked with enriched uranium for some years, and currently work with LEU. Does it pose health issues? Yes. However, if you have ever flown on air, or smoked 5 sticks of cigarette, then you are probably endangered than someone living 50 years 10km from a NPP. Check simplyleo, he has traveled several times on air without knowing the amount of radioactive substance he absorbed pay trip |

we nigerians are too corrupt to do it other way.... we must bombard the power sector with overdose of energie that it wouldnt make no sense to cheat nigerians no more....unprofitable to be a greedy moroon.... |

Re: Nigerian Senate Makes Case For Nuclear Energy by mrphysics(m): 6:16pm On Dec 12, 2019 |
erico2k2:Nuclear fuel has never been a problem. A nuclear power plant works with Low Enriched Uranium(LEU). You just need few to run for many years. You should be concerned about nuclear waste not nuclear energy 1 Like |

erico2k2:I just sent a link and you haven't even bothered to open it. For the emboldened, you should be concerned about that more than you are concerned about a nuclear power plant in Nigeria. Your risk is more than the risk of having one in Nigeria. |

bacie: This silly statement cannot stand the test of scrutiny when the nuclear source of energy is left in hands of those with some brain cells. The mere insinuation of allowing goons such as Nigerians to manage nuclear power plant is an act of homicide. If these dumbasses want to destroy some section of Nigeria, they can go ahead with such destructive dream. Few countries which are not in the same backward category as Nigeria are dismantling their nuclear power plants for alternative power source. It is even a serious headache for the advanced countries to store nuclear waste from dismantled station. Nigeria is extremely backward and cannot even manage ordinary and harmless gutter. One wonders on mother earth how the goons from shithole could handle any slight setback from nuclear plant. 1 Like |

In a country like Nigeria where corruption is the lifeblood that runs the place both in high and low places, building a nuclear power station may finally spell doom for us. I trust those illiterates don't even know what nuclear power entails and what the slightest form of neglect can spell for the entire nation. A visit to the Chernobyl nuclear site and the three mile island will tell the tale of what corruption or mismanagement of a nuclear power plant can do. |

Re: Nigerian Senate Makes Case For Nuclear Energy by Daboomb: 6:23pm On Dec 12, 2019 |
Simplyleo: You may be right on your worries about SAFETY ISSUES, bearing in mind Nigerians legendary prospensity for short-cuts and tardiness but Nigerians are not from Mars and if we are to grow our economy, Power is the First Problem we must solve. There are alternative sources of energy but take it from me that NOT ONE SINGLE INDUSTRIALISED NATION HAS BECOME INDUSTRIALISED WITHOUT HAVING AT LEAST ONE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT. NOT ONE, ANDNIGERIA WONT BE AN EXCEPTION. Nuclear Power source is the fastest and the cheapest (in-terms of return on investment) source of electricity and we must embrace it, if we are to cross over to the league of industrialis(ing) nation or even "developing" nations. What we need to do is to mitigate against the risks involved. Even Japan, despite their advancement and knack for dilligence, they still had "an accident", so it is not entirely about how dilligent we can be. We just need to seek help, make sure we deal with saboteurs (Politicians and Civil Servants who collect Bribe to subvert safety measures, by firing squad!) and deliver a safe Nuclear plant. I am not sure if Russia or China are our best options but we all know that the Europeans and Americans wont want us to have it because they see our development and advancement as innimal to their own foreign policy on theblack people, especially Nigerians because that would reudce the amount of influence they have on us and Black Africans in general, so going to them might also mean an endless wait for delivery, nto to mention their flip-flop on policies. Maybe we can have a consortium of contractors from bot "East and West" such that the "East" (Russia/China) builds, while the West (Germany, Canada or another European company) Vets and ensure safety and rule-management. But the bottom lin eis that we need to act fast and get it built, before looting Politicians who cannot deliver the Lagos Ibadan expressway since 1999., steal the money again. |
