Cigarette contains nicotine and methane which obviously kills. It has led death of millions globally on annual bases, and unfortunately, even thousands have died as a result of secondhand smoke exposure..that means, even a non-smoker is " liable to die young" when exposed to a smoker.

Despite these facts, cigarette is still legal. Isn't it hypocritical to make weed and other hard drugs illegal while cigarette remains a menace flexing freely in the society?

Weed and some dopamine reducing plant like the mushroom or some drugs like the LSD,DMT,and mdma are banned because this drugs and plant can knock you out of reality for life. Even those who take little almost experience the same episodes..I.e they see the universe in another dimension. Like the ayahuasca plant used by the shamans in Peru to have more enlightenment. Sometimes we need to make researches on these things.
Cannabis (weed) is a plant which to me is perfect when consumed the right way (brewed as tea, use as a spice for cooking and not smoking it) and in approriate amount.
It becomes detrimental to the health when it abused. Cigaratte on the other hand is deadly and their is no defending it.
