Governor Udom Emmanuel has expressed satisfaction with the level of progress on the new international terminal building project at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo.

Governor Emmanuel in an unscheduled project inspection visit to the airport on Wednesday, expressed satisfaction at the quality of work done by VKS Construction Company on the project, saying the new terminal will serve as a major gateway to rapid development in the State.

“This is one of the major gateways to our economic development not just for Nigeria, but the entire Africa, and I want to thank the contractors who are quite on schedule because if they miss the schedule they miss our target”.

The State Chief Executive hinted that the state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) on the Maintenance Repairs and Overhaul(MRO) facility of the International airport, emphasizing that the airport is compared to any international airport in the world.

"This is the only state that is building this kind of international terminal building, no state in the whole of Africa is doing this, look at the quality of airport that we are giving to Nigeria it is comparable to any international airport in the world.

"In terms of facilities our runway is category two, in terms of installations and infrastructures and what we are trying to do here, and you know we just signed an MoU on the MRO we are pushing forward”.

Also speaking briefly with Government House Correspondents, the State Commissioner for Special Duties, Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh described Governor Emmanuel as a man of quality and expressed delight in the Governor’s remarks over the pace of work at the new terminal building construction site.

The Commissioner assured the continuous diligence of the Ministry’s technical team in supervising the work to a premium completion.

Hear him: “I am very happy that the Governor is satisfied with what the Ministry and the contractors are doing.

"We are the ones supervising what they are doing there.

"We have the Ministry’s team there, the Engineers, Quantity Surveyors and all classes of technical workers from the Ministry.”
This money would have been better spent i n Building X2 power stations to generate electricity instead of this misplaced priority!

I am impressed with the facility but the key here is maintenance. How would the restrooms, baggage claim, and the surroundings look 2 years from now? Would the faucets in the restrooms be functional as well as paper towel and toilet roll dispensers be fully stocked or do you have to pay a bribe in order to have one available to you? These are the questions that need to be addressed and focus should be placed on making sure that such a nice facility does not fall into disrepair.

If you are referring to the Enugu airport, then of course the federal government should build it, it's their property.
Owerri airport was built by the state, the 4th busiest in the country.
South West has 3 airports, Lagos,Ibadan and Akure, they were all built by the FG.
Hypocrisy is a disease.
I totally agree with you not minding the silly comments by nitwits. When the FG is in total control of the revenue that is generated by the airport, it is its responsibility to build and maintain such. The last time I checked the Lagos, Kano, Abuja and, Kaduna Airports were built by the FG with the nation's money and not by any of these states or their peoples. So to expect the people of the East to build their own airport is asinine on the part of any person with such warped mindset. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. I wish people would just shut their anal-like orifice if they have nothing of substance to say.

Don't forget that the FG have also built an international airport in Portharcourt for the South South which Akwa ibom is part of.
Surely, they have to build Enugu for SE.

You'll be crying of marginalization, yet you are the ones marginalizing yourselves. Kema Chikwe, Stella Oduah and Osita Chidoka were all past aviation ministers, yet they couldn't facilitate the building or upgrading of airports in the SE. Shebi Amaechi is the current Transport minister, and no place in the whole SS and SE is good enough to site the Transportation university, but Daura.

GEJ's administration strategically positioned many South easterners, yet they couldnt use that to develop their region.

You see this northerners that we, southerners, see and refer to as illetrates, these guys are by far more politically conscious and enlightened.

Major general buhari is unfit and daft. Bury your head in shame if u ever voted for him.

As matter of fact, may that your finger u used to thumbprint for him got burnt.

Apple won't ever fall far from its tree. Buhari has ruled before and what was the outcome? Yet Tinubu and his cohorts repackaged him and sell to the gullible ones.

The prototype is different from the Attah's original plan.

Why?

This is how you attract foreign investment. Invest in infrastructures such as education, roads, rail and power and the investors will come.

There you go again making excuses for the non-performance of SE leaders, what did Stellah do when she was a minister of aviation under GEJ. The Akwa Ibom governor is not concerned with what the FG is doing or not doing, instead, he has leverage the state resources to attract needed foreign investors by building a state of the art airport.

Then why waste billions of dollars building universities, If the end result is to depend on Chinese, Turks and Arabs to build simple roads or construct airports.

The white contractors won't do shoddy jobs. A corrupt Nigerian contractor would spend 18 months on a job and it'd take a white contractor less than 6 months to start and complete the same job with a higher quality

They are attacking their leaders both within and outside so they can do their job. But why do they prefer being in sw and north instead home where they have forced their leaders to work?
I really dont understand why u make such comment. This forum should get rid of people like u! Go to London and see the number of Yorubas there. Go to south africa and see the number of yorubas there. Go to the usa and see the number of people there. Why are they there? Why didnt they sit their ass in south west and hold their leaders acountable?

Some of u just make stupid comments just to get likes. I am even annoyed at my self for replying such a stupid comment. People must migrate in one way or the other. Go and ask how south africans run their system of govt.

If u must know, in SA, three Arms of govt are located in three different states. This makes the country to run a kind of three capitals. This in return spread the investment and govt presence across the country. This is the model u need in Nigeria if u wish the Igbos to migrate less. If i want to travel out of the country, i must come to lagos or abuja to process my documents. If i want to submit anything to the FG, I must travel to lagos or Abuja for it among other things. I can practically do nothing in the east if I must get these things done. This is why they keep migrating. If u so wish them to stop migrating, then ur country should simply break up or run a regional confederation or at least, copy south african model and enact policies that will push some FG agencies to east as well.

People like u know the truth but chooses to be ignorant and that is why the country is messed up from east, to west, to south south and north. I am so happy becus the mess is not in the east alone. It is all over the country. No electricity, no water, unemployment, insecurity, poor housing, bad roads, etc. These are the basic things for any country and I am happy it is hitting hard on the entire country. Poor leadership knows no region.

I wonder if Nigeria or black man do have brains. Each time you see a big project the next thing you will see is white man handling the project. Is this a cursehuh
I worked in Germany as a civil engineer for 12years, this project is just a mini work to me to handle.
Why our government can’t give project like this to local companies?
