Defending the huge sum, Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, said some facilities in the National Assembly complex were old and needed to be replaced. Nigerian lawmakers have set aside a whooping N37bn to renovate the National Assembly. This is contained in the N2.5trn budgeted for capital projects by the Federal Capital Development Authority in the 2020 budget. The legislative arm had also voted N100bn for constituency projects in the budget, while earmarking N1bn for the amendment of the 1999 constitution by lawmakers in 2020. Defending the huge sum, Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, said some facilities in the National Assembly complex were old and needed to be replaced. He said, “The phase one renovation will commence – the chambers and committee rooms in the white house. “N37bn was sourced and was given. It was put under the FCT, not National Assembly. All we require is to have the complex renovated." Meanwhile, Dr. Rawlings Agada, National Assembly Director of Information, hinted that the money might not be enough for the required renovation. He said, “The National Assembly needs a lot of work. "I don’t think even that amount of money can take care of all those things because even the dome has been leaking and there is fear that if the repairs are not done, we might suffer greater problem in future.” http://saharareporters.com/2019/12/16/n37bn-approved-renovation-national-assembly

My Humble senators please is that enough. Because the pillars should be made of raw Gold. How can you use ordinarily 37 Billion Naira for a whole Meeting point for Amanyanabos. Do you know what it takes to be a Lawmaker? Oh oh no I personally won't take that. That Engineer must be fake to have proposed ordinary 37bn For the renovation of National Assembly. Please change him. This is exactly why we needed the hate speech Bill to come first before this renovation. But we don't know who told the public |

Hospitals are there with dilapidated buildings, doctors sharing consulting rooms with the labs and wards looking like dumpsters. Government schools are without windows or adequate roofing sheets, yet they are renovating the national assembly! Really, kudos to the people supporting this government...it can't be easy supporting evil |

How much was the building in itself that you need 37b to renovate it? Besides, are you tearing it down and building from scratch? |

fuckingAyaya: Absolutely un intelligent. IBB regime built the NASS complex probably more than 35 years ago. Why are you putting the devilishly corrupt PDP into it.? Did PDP build anything for Nigeria? The exchange rate difference and inflation worked backwards should have given a figure still lower than N30bn anyway but that is not the point. We should not be renovating the assembly complex now. |

Pointguardusa: Let me help you once again. 1999, PDP met naira at N22 to a dollar 2015, PDP left it at N199 to a dollar Divide 199 by 22 equal 9. Naira lost value by 800% during PDP rule. APC met N199 to a dollar, no excuses here. Today, it is N 363 to a dollar. Divide 363 by 199 equal 2. Naira lost by 100% under APC so far. You have something to say again to me?
