my small advice::: Can the The LASG concentrate their time and energy on delivering the long awaited Railway project of over 11 years to 13 yes pipe dream. Than cooking unrealistic " project Imagination " of my wonderful hero any day any time BAT. 4th MB was Tinubu campaign strategy anchor of year 2003. it goes thus , Imagine the 4th MBridge. We are still imagining.
Difference is the 4MB will be PRIVATELY financed...
While the Light Rail project is being PUBLICLY-financed!

Already we know Tinubu company will win it using another name cs money has changed hands dis is a waste of time submitting bids only for dey winner to be in Abuja seizing APC books
chukwugoziegi:
FACT.
And probably use 25billion dollars to build the 35kms bridge and make people pay toll for another 200years.
pawesome:
they will end up with the company that can bribe and lobby best
AmazingELixir:
Why are they bothering themselves...wetin Tinubu company dhan win
Gforce2015:
Hitech (tinubu company) will finally get the contract with just a minute fone call. If you know you Know.
Hitech is presently doing road reconstruction at Anthony -oshodi expressway.
misterjosh:
Another avenue to loot via inflated costs, and giving of contracts to their cronies.
thundafire:
wat are u saying no contract is awarded without Baba having a say never not in Lagos wen his errand boys are der
seunmsg:
Hitech cannot get the contract. There are only three construction companies in Nigeria today that can handle a 38km bridge. They are: Julius Berger, CCECC and Borini Prono. I don’t think the contract will be given to any company outside of these three.
This will NOT be a windfall for the winner....

It's a PPP arrangement and thus Lagos will NOT pay a penny...
The entity that wins the bid has to finance it itself (and recoup from tolls).

Lagos state government is looking for a company that will build and operate the bridge for a period of time, it is called government-private partnership. It is not a case of contract awarding

Lagos state is way ahead of other states in infrastructural development, i just hope due process is followed in the evaluation of the bids

Meanwhile do you plan on building your own home and scared of the budget?, Here is a low cost architectural building design (3bedroom bungalow) that ll cost roughly 6.4m to build, and require at least half plot 50 x 50 ft. To get the complete design at an affordable price contact via whatsapp 09037396586 to get the building plans emailed or waybilled to you

Usually, when a bridge is being built, consideration is not only given to the section that crosses over the water. Rather, it usually also includes the access road to the bridge. For example, it's only a small portion of what we call Eko Bridge that crosses over water. The longer stretch of the bridge actually goes over land. Another good example is the Second Niger Bridge. The Second Niger Bridge project includes the construction of a 1.6 km long bridge and a 10.3 km highway.
Thanks.

Do you employ Nigerians in the building of clients' homes? I still prefer the cotonou people though. They're highly professional and economical wink when a Nigerian builds you could easily notice...no precision, the building would either bend or wobble in one side or abruptly shaped.

I appreciate innovations that enhance people's way of life. Of course, I'd be willing to pay but not arbitrarily. Since the bridge would be state-owned, they need to recover their money and also maintain it but the toll shouldn't be heavy, that's my point but hey! It would definitely be a heavy burden on lagosians. Our govt likes money more than the people who put them there. The ikoyi link bridge toll we pay per crossing/usage. We have an office in Lekki and ikoyi. If we cross 4 times daily, we pay 400 naira 4 times and that's too much when summed up in a month. You could say there are alternative routes yes...but the business of the govt is to also make life meaningful to those they govern by building infrastructure because they do not pay interest on the allocations that come to them from the fed govt, neither do they refund same. Such allocations are for a project like this but because we do not know our right. We just watch them slap us in the face .Charging less would be nice on the 4th mainland bridge.

Oluwole Companies that cannot build road that can last for 2 years, want to build a long bridge like 4th mainland bridge?

what about RCC?

Under Nigeria's bizarre "federal" system, the federal government controls all inland waterways through National Inland Waterways Authority (pursuant to the NIWA Axt). Accordingly, the states do not have control over the waterways that run through their territories and have to negotiate (or in the case of Lagos when the PDP was in power at the centre, litigate) for use of the waterways and to develop water routes (most of the routes in Lagos require some dredging). Most private investors will NOT invest in some an uncertain regulatory environment (albeit now that Lagos has reached some arrangement with the now APC-controlled FG, UberBoats and a few others have taken the plunge).
>
Well said.

I remember the battle between Fashola and GEJ's government over inland waterways in Lagos, but at the moment, passenger boat operators are operating skeptically and Ubar is a small and boutique operation, we need at least (20-30) 200-300 passenger capacity ferry boats moving passengers heading into the city all the way from Badagry to I korodu, Marina, Badore, Ijede and so on.

This should be enough to remove hundreds of thousands of people off Ikorodu road and Lagos Badagry axis.

Bottom line, they need to scale up investments massively to take advantage of the waterways.

Re: Lagos 4th Mainland Bridge: 39 Companies Express Interest In Constructing It by jeebz: 5:56pm On Dec 20, 2019
This thread in spite of attempts to detail has actually been insightful. Lagos has to build this bridge given that the 3rd Mainland bridge was build over 30 years ago. Given the private funding model, I expect the toll to be implemented to give ample time for the recoup of funds maybe 20-30 years.

Do you understand what double taxation is? Even our so called government are not accountable for our little tax we pay. So we should expunge this your notion from our mindset and let the government do what they are supposed to do. Era of mediocrity should be done with abeg

Perhaps you should follow your own counsel on the highlighted... grin

Nigeria is NOT be the first country to have tolled roads and/or bridges. Even in most (if not all) of the advanced economies where tax compliance is actually much GREATER than in Nigeria, toll roads (and all manner of usage taxes) exist.

Meanwhile, this bridge currently does NOT exist and if a private entity takes the investment risk of raising the capital (most of which will likely be in the form of DEBT from banks, etc.), it deserves to recoup its investment by tolling the road.

Not sure where you got the "double taxation" theory from. If the FG charges for the new trains being put into use, would that be double taxation? If Lagos charges for the new Light Rail or LagFerry or BRT, is that double taxation?

A NEW tolled road is substantively no different from VAT (or other consumption/usage tax). You don't buy VAT-covered goods, you don't pay VAT!

I want to agree with your summary, I just feel that tolls should not be too much to cause a huge dent in pockets. O
Also, the alternate routes should be developed as well.
