It's not boxing as in physical exercise. It's a day set aside for all else who didn't have to celebrate the Christmas. It's a sort of alms raising for the underprivileged. Not boxing as in the physical aspect.

Boxing day is a day where you practice your boxing skills as it is not really right for anyone not to box in a year.
