FG Pays ASUU Members December Salary Despite Not Enrolling In IPPIS. by Islie: 11:31pm On Dec 25, 2019
The National President, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Professor Biodun Ogunyemi on Wednesday said public university lecturers have received the December salary despite not enrolling in the controversial Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).

The federal government, through the office of the Accountant General, had threatened that any lecturer who failed to enroll in the IPPIS would not be paid December salary.

However, the ASUU boss said his findings across the public universities showed lecturers have been paid the December salary even though they refused to enroll in the IPPIS.

The ASUU President made the observation in a message sent to members of the Intellectual Union to mark Christmas.

While Ogunyemi urged members of the Union to look back with thanksgiving, the ASUU President asked them to prepare for challenges ahead in the New Year.

He revealed that Nigerians are finding it very difficult to make ends meet due to the harsh economic policies of the present administration, stating that the situation has made life unbearable for the masses while the few rich continue to enrich themselves at the expense of the majority.

The ASUU boss said the poor and downtrodden have nothing to celebrate their Christmas.
According to Ogunyemi, worsening state of the economy has hit the poor masses below the belt and made the yuletide period meaningless.

He noted that celebration is more meaningful when the ordinary Nigerians have access to qualitative education, healthcare and other good things of life.

There are indications that the tertiary education sector will be charged up next year following refusal of ASUU members to enroll on IPPIS.

He said: “Comrades and compatriots, as we join the rest of the world for the Christmas and New Year holidays, let’s look back with thanksgiving and prepare for the challenges of the future. The season of love reminds us of our obligations to the poor and downtrodden.

“A celebration like this, is more meaningful when the ordinary Nigerians have access to qualitative education, healthcare, and other good things of life. Happy holidays, as the struggle continues! Biodun Ogunyemi.”

The government thinks it would unfair of you to suffer during Yuletide.

Bear it in mind, ye shall enrol or ye shalt suffer.

They even deserve to be forced to wear primary school uniforms to their lecture halls. It is difficult to believe that a professor is the one that rigged an illiterate without primary school result into presidential seat. They deserve worse than that until they learn their lessons.

Sorry, but rigging did not influence the 2015 results.

PDP lost because they lost states like Kogi,Kwara, benue, and Nassarawa due to intra-party division, and bad governors (Benue and Kogi are two good examples).

Also, rigging in my opinion does not influence the results of elections in Nigeria, because Nigerians prefer to vote for PDP or APC despite bad performances.

Same for 2019 ELECTIONS....infact PDP could have won, if it wasn't for Saraki getting rejected in Kwara, and people in many Northern states voting for Buhari, but voting for PDP in the governorship elections. If 2019 was rigged...it won't have been that narrow.

Still, again, Nigerians vote for parties whose performance is zero. Vote for other parties apart from APC and PDP they won't,

Thank you all nairalanders for a quite interesting 2019 year.

I want to use this medium to announce a drop in participation in Nairaland as from year 2020.

If you wake up to log in to NL to learn about the bad news about the country or for tribal masochism, and spend the next 1 hour on facebook or twitter looking at the latest news or trends, then spend another 1 hour on whatsapp looking at peoples' status and personal lifestyle, then spend the evenings to go watch how Chelsea should win or how Barcelona should fail...then keep logging off and on NL to see how many likes or mentions you have had...

then I put it to you that if you continue this trend for the next 2-3 years, especially if you are a youth that has a bright future ahead, the likelihood that you'll end up as a failure in life is high.

If you put all the minutes you spend on unproductive things online, it's enough to find a bearing for your life and loved ones even in the midst of the hardship all around.

You don't know anything yet.
Go and ask JOHESU members how far.

Ngige as Labour minister held those guys by the balls till they were forced to behave. Now, they know that if they go on any yeye strike, their salaries won't be paid.

While I'm on the side of ASUU considering the testimonies of those on IPPIS, I don't think it's correct to make it seem as though the FG acted in weakness. Why do we enjoy pitching people against others in this country. Neither Politicians nor ASUU will lose if there's strike. It's the masses, yet we're the one that will Stoke the embers of quarrels...
Meanwhile, I pray, that any evil manipulation that will attempt to recreate suffering in the land in 2020 will be shamed IJN..., Amen.

January 2020 salary would not be paid unless their members enroll in the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).
