If cars, HGVs and articulated vehicles are made to park on the bridge due to artificial hold up created by police check point at the entrance or at the foot of the bridge, no matter how structurally sound the bridge might be, it is very wrong and an emergency situation that should be dealt with.

The warning by this Dr. Orji should not be ignored.

There is much of a stress the materials used in the construction of bridge could withstand at a given time. Why would anybody design a mean to add more stress to the girders? Sometimes , I reluctantly agree that Nigeria is a basket of fools.

This is a serious safety issue . This is not a laughing matter . I’m glad GEJ didn’t build that bridge . PMB should finish the bridge and will forever be remembered in igboland !
Setting up a checkpoint ( Bribe compliance) at the foot of a bridge shows lack of common sense by the police , and poses great risk to commuters.
Police and their checkpoints are the 2nd most causes of accidents on our highways after Overspeeding !

Over 40 percent of Nigerians have not crossed the River Niger Bridge.

Even a lot of people from the south east have not passed through the bridge.

First time i passed it was when i went to see someone at owerri.

Then it became my steady passing point due to going and coming from school (i schooled in the south east).

Those going from the north to the south-west or south-south do not go through there.
