You are right.
Police can't make that conclusion, else it is unprofessional.
Any of the bank staff could be an insider.
Those not on duty are even more likely to be the insider.
However, MTN, Airtel, GLO etc can provide the call logs between the robbers and each of the bank staff so as to study who's in contact with them till the hours before the shooting and entry.

Let me tell you also that the Nigerian people are not different from the police they criticize.

Many of us here have a premonition that the insider arrested is among. Which can be absolutely erroneous.

Thank God no innocent person was hurt some times bank robberies always have an insider who gives out information to the robbers I was at a uba branch on the 23th of Dec. when I saw a man wailing and telling one of the bank attendants how he just got robbed of #80k by some men with ak47 immediately after he left the bank premises. I then asked him if any one knew he was coming to the bank but he said he didn't inform anyone that he was going to the bank I now concluded that it must be the bank cashier that knew about the withdrawal that informed the robbers. I just pitied the man who said the #80k was all he had in his account. People really have to be extremely careful when making withdrawals these days from banks especially when withdrawing directly from the bank cashiers.

So investigation was concluded on the spot to determine the bank staff that acted in connivance?

Why the rush to issue statements? One would
have thought that the logical thing to do was to evacuate the suspects first and then carryout a roburst investigation before coming out with a statement.

The statement should have been that "Preliminary investigation carried out indicate that an insider may have been involved in the plot and investigation is ongoing to determine those involved. A bank staff has been taken into custody for questioning. The members of the public will be briefed on the outcome of the investigation. Hence, normalcy has been restored and the public is encouraged to go about their normal lawful activities as the Nigerian Police Force is awake to its responsibilities of safe guarding lives and properties"

The criminals probably were given some sort of assurances from the supposed "insider" that the operation will be seamless, hence the reason for their foolishness.

Have they concluded their investigation?

Sure they might have done that. Checking and tracking the robbers' phone communication would have given them the tips.
