I don't doubt you. Its really a very cool place. However if you pay a visit to Gaborone, you will understand the little difference. But hey they are both very cool cities.

You won't regret it. I think they got one of the best police in Africa and it also has one of the strongest economy. They are very easy going people and nice to foreigners once you respect them and behave yourself.

I already feel so terribly embarrassed going through this thread. I feel like all our leaders, past and present, should be arraigned publicly and shot in the head for their sheer wickedness. they all know what is right to do but would prefer not to do it simply for selfish reasons.

They all have their loot stored in this civilized countries and their children school there, but refuse to replicate what they see when they come home. There is still corruption in Namibia,Botswana and Rwanda but they make sure they deliver on targets they set. For example by Rwanda has a vision to make electricity accessible to 70% of it's population and they are working towards it.

Nigerians in the thousands/millions will soon that flooding like Rwanda,Botswana,Namibia to claim asylum, unless the government does something about the 100m youths without decent jobs. Xenophobia and hate against Nigerians will soon start to develop in those countries unfortunately and more stringent visa measures.

Yes, in the same Africa- the shithole continent. The media always shows the bad side of Africa, when South Africa,Botswana and Namibia have some of the most beautiful and developed cities in the world.

Namibia,Botswana and Rwanda are rising. Give them another decade or two and even UK citizens will be immigrating there.

There is so much riches in Nigeria and it has been cornered by a few. I appreciate the wealth Nigeria created for my family to enable me to relocate to a civilized country.
I have traveled to 7 countries around the world and without a doubt Nigeria is one the worst countries in the world in every aspect. How leaders could do this to the country they were born and raised still baffles me, and they have all been exposed to civilized countries. And watch other smaller countries leave them behind.

We have to keep praying and do our part as well. Prayer is for Nigerians to see beyond APC,PDP and APGA and see candidates that are genuinely interested in bringing Nigeria from the 18th century to the 21st century.

Namibia is expensive for me because of I live in North America, so the flight ticket alone will make up most of cost of the trip. And another factor is most of the hotel/motel accommodations get sold out and you are left with expensive options. I am sure you can rent an Air B N B as well, but haven't looked into that.

It costs around $2.5k-$3k for a 2 week trip if you live in North America with flight and accommodation included. If you have a travel partner you can split the costs for accommodation.

It will cost more if you decide to go to also visit Walvis Bay,Swakopmund,Etoha National Park and Namib-National Park(the game reserves) and other smaller cities.

Flying out of Nigeria the costs will be cheaper because the flight ticket will not be that expensive.

Windhoek has a population of 325,000 people about the same as oil rich Warri in Delta state. However, is miles ahead in terms of development and infrastructure.

This is the difference between good governance and fantastical corruption.

I guess you had no time to visit Swakopmund west of Windhoek. I heard it is even more beautiful and looks like any town in Germany.

Nigeria is unfortunately a failed state, with terrible and heartless leaders. I feels bad when you see other Africans nations advancing and we keep retrogressing.
Is the entire city as beautiful as this? No slums? Low income areas?

God won't step down from His throne to come rule us. He gave us brains, common sense and a conscience for that.

Windhoek is still a developing city and they do have slums. Not everyone got caught up in the prosperity and it is also an expensive city to live. The poor with little education and chance of getting good paying jobs find it hard to afford the accommodation in the more developed parts of the city and are only able to afford to live in the slums in the outskirts.

However, the good outweighs the bad. The poor will always exist and setup illegal structures to put a roof over their head.
I hope long-term the government will try to find a way to carry them along.

It is a shame there is no city in any of any Niger Delta States like:Akwa Ibom,Delta,Rivers State,Bayelsa, that despite receiving the highest allocation that can match Windhoek in terms of infrastructure development.

That it is why it is right to have the right leaders in positions of power.
