Nice one, if the border remain closed. By December next year there'd be enough poultries and competition will set in thereby the price of chicken and Turkey will "hopefully" reduce.

Nigerians just need to stop complaining about the closure and tap into the advantages and opportunities with an innovative and investment mindset. We don't have to import everything.

God bless Nigeria and Nigerians!
God bless PMB, PYO

Ikenna?

Hmmm.

Ikenna risks the chance of being stripped of his tribe with this revelation because his brethren will soon pounce on him for daring to say something positive about any policy of this administration.

Clowns, pigs, idiots were all over the places cursing Tyrant Maj Gen Buhari for not seeking experts' opinion on economic policies. Now, an economic team consisting of seasoned economists was constituted by the tyrant and one of the recommendations was border closure.

The tyrant approved and acted accordingly, same clowns, pigs and idiots were still all over the places competing and falling over themselves insulting him for taking advice from economic experts.

Now, Ikenna just confirmed how he cashed in from such land border closure, though at the risk of ceasing to be of his original tribe.

Make una no go find work do, remain in your burrows expecting buhari to start bringing food to you.

Lazy bastards.

While I'm happy you made money from your hustle, the border closure is not good for consumers. It will shift the demand curve leftward and create dead-weight. ONLY EDUCATED RESPONSES: I want to start a serious conversation and not a fight.

Did u tell the day chick went from 12k to over 25k
Did u tell them the price of feed increased also

Selling chicken at 4k has been normal if they are big enough frozen chicken is still 15k to 18k

Mad oO.... In as much he cashed out bigtime this yuletide period, The only problem i have is that the prices of fowl has skyrocketed beyond measures, imagine getting one at the rate of 6-7K this December, it means we are on the verge of getting them at the rate of 8-10K by next year.....

It was not because of any boarder closure. There are still frozen birds in the market just that people prefer point and kill birds this period. Last year Christmas, I bought a chicken for 2k and that guy sold more than 50 when I was there (I had to wait for it to be killed that why I was able to count upto that amount), earlier this year when I felt to kill chicken, it was killed immediately because there was no customers. This Christmas, I didn't buy any chicken, so I wouldn't know how the guy's business boomed. How many did he sell the preceding months if it was all about the boarder closure?

Border closure might seem to be doing more harm than Good in the short run but would have great positive effect in the long run.
See how local rice don yakpa for market with better price.
If only we rejected the pains of recession we would be forced into buying foreign rice at greater price today.
Its like the old saying "no pain no gain"

I disagree: It will do short-term good, like Ikenna's, and cause damage in the long run. There is no incentive for local producers to drop prices (and compete) if they know they have the market on lock. Ask yourself, why is someone from the other end of the world, despite transportation and storage cost, able to produce chicken cheaper? That's the question a progressive government would try to find answers to.

The foolishness of Ikenna shows why he's just a chicken seller at his age.

Let him go and spend those millions at the market and tell us if he bought more things or less things than before? People still think it it the amount of money you have that determines your living standards. No, it's the VALUE of the money you have that does that and right now, naira has less value than before the border closure.

The same way yams are cheap in the market? Not saying the closure is bad but it won't change what you just said.

price of broillers still differs across states.
Broiler of 2k in Abuja is 4k in Benin because of competition in Abuja.
Most retired military generals in abuja are into the business.
Your not seeing the brighter side of the long run.
What ikkenna is telling us indirectly is that there's opportunity in this line of business people should come in and invest which in turn creates employment on the short run and also creates excess supply in the long run which also in turn reduces price which is a win win on all end..
A business of this kind can not be locked down by few individuals.
Its cheap and easy to venture in.

you can start with whatever amount you want to.
A day old broiler as at now sells from #120 to 180 pending on location.
Although the risk is high but if your commited to it you can rake in 70% of your investment in 3 months.
Their feed goes for about 3700.
A bag can feed 50birds for 3 weeks so you'll be needing about 5 to 6 bags in 3 month.

There is no win-win when consumers are paying more than they should, which they would as there is no competition. The local dealers need to be enabled to bridge the cost gap, after all they already have location advantage.
