How big is Nigeria that every state wants an airport and an airliner for the state. What we need in an interconnection of railway lines.

Meaningful airports will do.

Good development, hope other states imitate their effort
What is there to emulate?
It is not a wise investment.
Government can not run business efficiently and effectively.
Ask what killed Nigeria airways.
He would have engineer the private people or better still a partnership with private people to run it with private people having 70% or 80% stake.
No sensible governor will try it.

...there is a state in the US that generates its major revenue from BEER consumption.
BELARUS generates more income from BEER consumption than we generate from AIRPORTS.

Richdad50 has a point.

Time and time again, Nigerian government has shown that it's incapable of successfully running any business.

You see, every government business that has survived today is still in operation because the government uses it for other things.

For instance, the NNPC has become the cash pot of Nigerian politicans that's why the corporation keeps running at a loss year in, year out. It is sad that we cannot organize the biggest company in Nigeria's sector that finances her economy.

Similarly, while the NTA has some of worst picture quality in the world, it has become the propaganda tool of the government. That's why it hasn't crumbled yet. The media house that used to run independently cannot stand any fierce competition today.

Therefore, the best bet is for Akwa Ibom State to allow an experienced private firm move in and manage the airline. It could be a 70/30 arrangement. It should run in some local airports before kicking off its international operations - that's common sense.

Finally, stop using sane countries as instances whenever you discuss Nigeria. Over the years, Nigerians have proven that nothing good will ever work in this country. Absolutely nothing!

An airline dead on arrival. It's only a matter of time before it is overrun by their nephews and relatives. Nigerian states or federal governments cannot run airline business. It is a rigorous venture. It will only take successive govt with other priorities to squash it.

Unsustainable development has been Nigeria's biggest challenge. Prioritizing programs that have zero impact on baseline economic indices.

Naija people can be easily deceived. From akwa ibom to douala is like from Lagos to Edo. Can you imagine governor celebrating mediocrity.
Not too long, it will be converted to personal property. Just wait and see.
They will advertise that they want to sell it to private company. Here we go!

Plans are underway for the Akwa Ibom State owned and operated Airline, IbomAir to begin international flights, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem has said.

This to him is sequel to the high demands by Cameroonians to fly directly into Nigeria rather than flying to Lome(Togo) before connecting a flight to Abuja or Lagos, Igbere TV reports.

Briefing newsmen at the end of the last State Executive Council Meeting for 2019, the SSG said that based on the high demand, the IbomAir will soon begin scheduled flights on Cameroon-Nigeria route.

He revealed that Cameroon to Uyo, Abuja or Lagos was within the approved routes of Ibom Air, adding that the airline will connect Douala with Abuja, Lagos or Uyo in its flight operations.

“As you can see, the International Terminal Building of our airport is coming up very soon; we are going to have our international terminal ready for international flights before year 2020 runs out,” he added.

He said the executive council meeting also reviewed the year 2019 in retrospect, and according to Dr Ekuwem, among the deliberations, was minimizing truancy in the civil service to enhance productivity.

He disclosed that the State Civil Service is to be fully automated using Information And Communication Technology (ICT) for optimal performance and enhancement of productivity of the workforce.

“There will be an increase in the number of road construction, next year, we will have a smart Akwa Ibom State, an intelligent state and this means computerization and ICT based automation of operations within the state civil service.

“Today, we took a decision that human resources (HR) and asset management, productivity of staff, performance, assessment, recruitment, employment, growth, retirement, pension and gratuity within the state civil service will be one click away. You know what that means, we will save time”, he explained.

The SSG noted that Governor Udom Emmanuel has remained undeterred in the socio-economic development of the state which he said was evident in the massive road infrastructure, inauguration of industries, investment in the power sector which would provide electricity to all by 2021, investment in aviation sector especially, the IbomAir, flag-off of the reconstruction of Ibom Blue Sea Science Park, 21 Storey Intelligent Building, and many other projects.

Good move by the Akwa Ibom state government.

But they should have consolidated on the local market before commencing International flight operations.

It is like telling a Baby to walk before crawling.

I hope the next government after the Odom administration will sustain the innovative plan by the Akwa Ibom state government.

WHEN WILL THE DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT BUY AEROPLANE TO COMMENCE FLIGHT OPERATIONS.

IBORI BAD BOYS IN GOVERNMENT - IBORI HIMSELF, UDUAGHAN, OKOWA, GBAGI, ETC

WILL NOT LET US SEE THE MONEY FOR DEVELOPMENT IN DELTA STATE.

CORRUPTION SMELL LIKE ROTTEN EGGs in DELTA STATE.

The seaport in Warri, and Koko is not working and there is a sitting governor in Delta state that is not doing anything to bring in fresh investment to Delta state.

To my northern brothers, especially northern political leaders. You keep day dreaming of Crude Oil Money ( Free crude oil money via federal allocation )

Won 't you diversify into mechanized Agriculture and forget about this free money from the Niger delta region and Lagos state Vat Earning which is shared illegally to you by the federal government.

AKWA IBOM STATE GOVERNMENT HAS SET THE PACE.

NORTHERNERS HEAR ME VERY WELL ! GO AND FACE AGRICULTURE. FORGET ABOUT NIGER DELTA FREE CRUDE OIL MONEY.
