I personally think it's because of playing Auba on the side and not CF. Most times again Pepe doesn't know when to make a run instead of waiting and wanting to take on any defender, at times u just need to run and not dribble unnecessarily sha
When we are on a counter the midfield hardly participate actively by “sprinting” into channels creating several options thereby confusing the opposition on who to mark.

Our counters ain’t fast enough we need to work on it. We had several opportunities with counters yesterday couldn’t make anything from them and it has been that way for some time now.

His ginjah was too much. Even before kick off he was giving the team morale with pep talk....all tru the match he was busy sending everything back to the damn Devils.

Na him gangan tesumole this January 1st grin
he was superb against Chelsea too and could have won MOTM easily but the defeat let him down.

Emery isn't as terrible as you may want him to be. He had a bad spell that's all. He wasn't meant for us. So many issues with communication and man management plus unbalanced tactics and player usage.

He is off, don't bury his ghost.
He was terrible at PSG terrible with Arsenal, he’s yet to successfully manage a top club, instead he drags them backward.

He’s terrible.

if the midfield get involve they will expose the defence.
It's so funny how everything changed suddenly, the midfield and defence ebening made to look so terrible and someone is telling us he just had a bad spell with us.

Is this not the same Ozil me and you have been defending for ages now? Abi na him clone?

abeg leave Spy,
On the midfield there’s a way they can get the balance during counters. Liverpool does it, u don’t see KDB of City not get involved with counters.

I hate to see us fluff counters

Mehn, yesterday's game was breathtaking. Kudos to Arteta for giving us shape and identity both on and off the ball.

Can't believe I'm seeing this side of classy ozil again. I already thought he's past his best, but thanks to Arteta for playing to his strength and covering his weakness.

Pepe tried yesterday and he even helped the defence, that's really great from him. Also, he should try to make runs behind the defence and not just waiting for ball to his feet. Another thing is that he should be fast in his dribbles and while moving forward with it.

Yesterday's game is the reason why we need fast effective winger a lot. Pepe showed on the right why a tricky winger is missed. Auba showed on the left why a tricky winger is needed.

Kudos to xhaka and torreira. They really Marshalled the midfield well, from breaking up play to starting attack from deep.

Defence, was class yesterday, making Leno to receive less shot.

All in all, it's a great game. Can't wait for our full backs to come back soon enough.

Coyg!!

Who noticed yesterday?
Kola played as a false winger while xhaka played as a false full back.

Also against Bournemouth, Niles played as an inverted full back (tucking in the midfield, to give extra bodies to our midfield and gaining hold of possession over Bournemouth).

Awb having kola and auba bomb in on him nullifies his defensive strength as he won't know who to mark. Also auba tucking inside to play as an inside forward thereby dragging awb alongside him mostly gives kola all the time and space to have that wing free all through the first half

He’s TERRIBLE, can you name one player that flourished under Emery.

He bought Torreira a player that caps for Uruguay shunts him to 10, hung Xhaka out to dry and did everything possible even at the detriment of results just to play Guen in the team. Played Guen , Torreira and Willock at 10 at some point while claiming Ozil is ill just to massage his ego while breaking the hearts of millions of fans.

Emery didn’t have a bad spell, Emery is the Spell!!!!

I’m going to his Instagram page to curse him again.

I’ll like to see Auba being flanked by Martinelli once he’s back. Laca can come from bench.

me too. Auba is more clinical and since he have added work rate to his game, he's now a better option than lacazette.

The choice of centre forward between the two will not be easy depending on how the coach wants to play and what period in the game. Though overall Aubameyang is better, but if you want a CF with back to goal and high press, Lacazette gives a better option.

I will suggest Aubameyang starting on the wings (if he must start and deservingly so) and then moves to centre after 60mins when Lacazette tires off and we are on the counter.

Our boys have shown difficulty in coping with the high levels of intensity Arteta's methods demands. A clear sign of poor fitness levels from previous eras.

They dominate for 40mins like a whirlwind and cool off the shores the rest of the game. Take away coordinated defending and we could be losing games like we did against Chelsea.

There is a need to make our players able to cope with the high intensity for at least 70mins. Just as Liverpool and Man City.

This is where signing fresh players come into play. We should bring in at least 2 to 3 players that can play this Arteta's pattern January and then maybe 2 to 3 again at the end of the season within a year or two we should have almost a complete first 11 that is comfortable with playing Arteta's pattern.

That was what Pep did at city buying and selling as much as he wanted just to shape the team to play the way he wants. Even though we don't have the financial war chest Pep had at his disposal, we can still do it over time.

For now, I think your opinion is great, but if we've a winger, then I would love auba to be starting over lacazette. Especially as auba have added pressing to his game

Sad news!

C. Chamber suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament on his left knee on Thursday and will out of action for 6-9 months. I am so gutted by this news because this kid worked soooo hard to reinvent himself. These sort of injuries deter the growth and development of young player. I am wishing him well and hope he is okay, football comes 2nd in this situation for me.

Abeg what is Ljunberg's job sitting among the fans ? I saw one article like that online and I forgot to read it's explanation, Now I can't seem to remeber where I came across it.

Anybody with the full gist as to why he sits where does?

He is on holiday but will be part of Arteta's team.
The point is to reduce his influence on the players and allow Arteta gain more control. He is the assistant coach.

@thorrvik55 & kokaneprodigy are actually correct.
Arteta wants a set of eyes to watch our games from a different angle and then communicate what he sees from there.
This is where the shape and compactness of the team comes in, especially when he is implementing the press or pushing his defenders higher up the field.
Freddy reports to Arteta what he is seeing with regards to the shape of the team with and without the ball from the overhead position which is a vantage position for watching how a formation/ tactic is working.
This is why there has been so much improvement in the coordination, compactness and shape of our game.

It is very important I clarify this fact before pesin go come talk say na Pep, aka apari teach am oh.

I think the idea came from watching the Arsenal v Everton game from that vantage point, remember he sat high up in the stands. He could see our shape from that position during the match and that must have given him an idea on what he needed to work on. He figured he needed someone to help him watch our shape during matches and report to him so he can make adjustments accordingly.

Who better than your assistant coach (Freddy) who participates in training and understands what Arteta is trying to achieve with the team, especially during this early period? I imagine someone else will take the responsibility as team stabilizes and Freddy will return to the dugout.

I actually didn't realise that. Thought he was on holiday.

Nice one by Arteta, really carving a niche for himself. I believe he can be the next best thing. I hope.

Which explains our tactical and positional discipline Vs United.

When Kola overlaps, Xhaka covers for him and AMN covers for Xhaka, creating an imaginary extra man and a lot of balance.
