why was he not captured alive and be made to face trials for his crimes? it is easy to accuse a dead man because he won't be there to defend himself.

That has been my fear all along : the possibilities of Trump going rogue to divert attention from his impeachment and! But you would agree that the Potus could'nt have taken that decision alone without a strong intel that would have been on the front burner for sometime now. There is no doubt that Soleimani is US and her allies' frenemy( intended) given his military history and political influence vis a vis the difficult situation in the middle east where several factions of volatile ethno-religious millitias and state interests mix especially in Iran and Iraq with vast oil wealth to fund these toxic situations home and abroad, while at the same time attracting anti or pro US forces as the case may be. You would also agree that Trump may have a strong evidence that waiting for Soleimani to strike would have been too dangerous and fatal to the US. It is this evidence if summoned to appear before a UN security council that would vindicate the urgency in the targeted killing of an immediate threat that was Maj Gen Soleimani , and for which i don't think he needs the US congress approval before acting . How Iran and Soleimani's allies in Iraqi government, and globally react, nobody can adequately predict as they said this is war and that they would react the way the want irrespective of Trump;s threats. What are the costs of the consequences of killing Soleimani now ? It is a difficult situation but i hope Trump sanely knows what he is doing as this action has escalated an already bad situation.

When ISIS took over 3/4 of military weapons and facilities in Iraq, it was people like Soleimani who led the fight back by the Iraqi shiite government .
So why kill the man if not to garner fake support against impeachment trial or to help you in November elections?.

All Obama or Bush afldministration who were far more intelligent than Trump would have done was to plan a "mission of warning". Maybe the missiles would have deliberately missed and more Iranian leaders would have been "almost killed " as well. This would have been serious warning. Now you have killed the guy and you are shivering in fox holes waiting for retaliation.

Iran does not need military power to retaliate. Retaliation is in the terrorism space not military and they now hold all the cards

Suleimani also helped saved Syrian Assad government when it was almost defeated by the rebels.

I don't know where they got the terrorist image from. while I'll condemn their (Iran's) hate chants towards American people, the man has done nothing wrong as there's no evidence of him committing any crime against humanity. he was the brain that put an end to the dreaded ISIS in some countries. now you make a u turn and claimed he he was going to attack Americans!! we are living in different realities with these ones at the moment but very soon some will snap out of it. Even when a pic shows him in midst of the US Army, trump will tell you the picture is a lie. If that's not the devil from the pit of hell I don't know what else. Osama Bin Laden took years to blend in before he went rogue, this man was head of their 'dss' and even if he was a bad man, this picture was just under few months ago. Trump should have admitted that it was mistake or apologized but as usual, his pride won't let him.

Now ISIS AL QAEDA And Saudi Arabia's Number one enemy has been eliminated, US troops are no longer focusing on fighting terrorism, they've gone to a defence mood against Iran.
