CH4 + O2=CO2 + H2O
1)how many oxygen molecules will react with 47 molecules of CH4
2) how many moles of h2o could be produced by the reaction of 3.5 moles of ch4 with excess oxygen

Have you attempted it first? so that you can easily understand when corrected.

First of all balance the equation....

CH4 + 2 O2 >>>>>>>>> CO2 + 2H2O

1mole : 2 moles >>>>>>>1mole : 2 moles

1. From the question, it only involves Oxygen and Methane so,

If 1 mole CH4====== 2 moles O2 ( but 1 mole of any gaseous atom is 6.023 X 10^23 molecules).

(6.023 X 10^23 molecules) CH4 ==(2 * 6.023 X 10^ 23 molecules).

47 molecules CH4 ===== 'x' molecules of O2

x = 94 molecules of Oxygen.

2. It involves H2O and Methane so you will be relating their moles.

If 1 mole CH4======= 2 moles H2O

3.5 moles =======. 'x' mole H2O.

x==== 7 moles of H2O.
